Does anyone use Presonus Studio One Pro ?

I've got the demo sitting on my computer but never got round to properly trying it out. Very interested in it but people so rarely talk about it.

i remember when they first announced it...a bit of hype but not much. apparently a lot of 'big' producers jumped ship from whatever programs they were using before to presonus....but i can't name you one of these producers, so i dont know really.

i only ever heard that the built in fx were good.

I tried the demo, and I was really impressed. It's made by the people that worked on Cubase SX and so it shares a LOT of similarities to Cubase, more so than any other program. The interface is more like Ableton in terms of partitioning screen space, which sucks for me since I use a laptop, but if you have a big monitor it's probably a lot better. And the effects were good, but then again so are the Cubase ones for the most part. I would say it's definitely worth checking out, it's a shame it's not cheaper considering it's a new piece of software and competing for marketshare.

My audiobox came with Presonus Studio One Artist, but I never really got around to trying it out.

from what i hear it's very user friendly.

Ive got it on my PC here, its a very nice program, makes me think of logic for the PC imo, not too sure why it just gives that feel to me, but I dont know.. we all have our one program you feel comfortable in, for me this is cubase.. so I dont see myself turning to another program in general, if I did (it would be logic for mac, or studio one for PC)

I used it lastnight and i found that its very user friendly and runs very smooth!

I'm interested in S1 pro, since it's on 50% off till 31st october.
I'm currently using Reason 5 and record, which is the only DAW (yea i call it a daw, sue me).
I have no problems with it, i think S1 could contribute to my workflow, rewire is very easy with this. I'm aware of the the fact that Reason 6 is coming in 2 weeks,
but props pissed me off by charging me 99euro for the upgrade. Reason 5 and reacord 1.5 is basically the same as R6, minus the 3 new FX.
S1 would only cost me slighty more.

Any users of S1 on here who wanna share their opinion on S1? Quality of the stock FX? Stability? Workflow? Any important features missing? etc.

I love the DAW itself, it feels almost logicy or like a cleaner cubase. Haven't had any experience with bugs or anything like that, quite the opposite really, it's super low on resources and stable. The stock effects are imo really really high quality, I'm not like an expert sound engineer or anything like that, but I find them better than average for bundled daw effects, and I've demo'd like all of them at some point over the years.

It IS missing the odd thing, though. Random example (that is often requested on the boards) - no track freeze. If you want to bounce something down to save CPU, you can do a full bounce & reimport type deal with only a couple clicks, and then you have to go disable everything on the original track, and if you wanna undo it go and reverse all that etc. Not a massive deal but it's little workflow things like this that are missing, I have no doubt it'll catch up though eventually.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the one thing that is lacking in the stock stuff is instruments, imo. You get a really basic drum sampler, a single osc synth and an instrument sampler. Nothing particularly heavyweight, though its usable workhorse stuff. I already had VSTs and Thor, so I wasn't bothered, but if it was all one was purchasing I can see them wanting more basically straight off.

Yeah I noticed the lack of instruments, but thats not a big problem. Will be mainly using reason's instruments, and might buy some VSTi's later on.

How do you find the audio editing? I'm assuming it's got the basic functions like cut, reverse, timestretch etc.? Also is time-stretching audio as easy as stretching the clips?

Yeah, reversing, splitting, fades and all that sort of stuff is available straight on the event editor much like cubase or reaper. Stretching a clip is just holding down alt and dragging it longer or shorter.

You wont regret it at all, and it will add audio work+ VSTs into your arsenal.

Yeah think so too, well i've been working with audio in Record, but i could get clumsy sometimes with the lack of a dedicated editor window.

Had a play with it for a few hours, liking it so far, especially the drag and drop system. Loading up samples and audio is easy and fast. It took quite some time in reason and record to browse thru my sample library. Folders with a lot of files in them would take a few seconds to open up, probably due to my shitty pc, still very annoying tho. Effects sounding good so far, but can't see myself stop using some of reasons fx, especially the RV7000 and Scream4. Well worth the money.

Yes I have it and use it quite often, I love it but I am personally just stuck on cubase, but when I want specific things done or feel like I need a bit of a change ill go into presonus and mess around with a few songs, great buildin vst's and like they said nice drop and drag system.

I use it almost exclusively (rewire reason in sometimes). Absolute dogs nuts!

i use studio one pro for all my work,really love it,and version 2 is just around the corner,looking really forward to it
