800s are your best bet, reliable and if you can get the hang of them your practically ready to play on any club setup.
dont get 200s because you'll eventualy get pissed off from its limitations
dont get 1000s because you dont need all the extras they have
and just dont buy stanton cdjs... period.

Personally i feel that the Stanton c.324 are better then the 200 by far, better then the 800, and personally, better then the 1000.
Let me explain
When it comes down to features, the Stantons have the pioneers beat. The Stantons have:
4 Hot Cues
6 on board effects
Looping
Scratching
and a pitch bend that goes all the way up to 100% ( 8, 16, 25, 100 )
When i looking at the pioneers, none of them except the 200 seem to have effects
Now i will have to say that the pioneer 800/1000 do have a leg up on scratching. There jog wheel spins nicer and is slightly more accurate then the Stantons. But the Pioneer 200 jog wheel is crap, when its new it feels flimsy, and when its used, the jog wheel starts to become uneven.
Another thing that the pioneers seem to do better is looping. it has the ability to cut the loop into 1/4, 1/8 ect.... while on the stantons you have to have to do that manually.
But overall, the comination of the effects, decent scratching, generous 4 hot cues, and the pitch bend, id have to say the Stantons are better.
Now my final point. Economics
Pioneer 200 ....... $400
Pioneer 800 ....... $800
Pioneer 1000 .......$1300
Stantons c.324 ........ $400
Now i would never spend $400 for the pioneer 200. and i could buy 2 Stantons for the price of 1 800. and if i did want to go and get the pioneer 1000 ( which is the only one id consider ), i could buy 2 Stantons, a mixer, a case, and a powered amp!
So overall, id have to say the Stanton c.324 beat the pioneers, unless money isnt a problem, then maybe the 1000 are better because they would last threw more shit, but even on that, the Stanton are tanks and ive seen Stantons take alot of abuse and still work today.

i think that you'll notice effects arent really that major AND if your really that interested in scratching just get decks, dont bother with cdjs even if you get 800/1000s

stantons are extremely dodgy and tbf actual shite...

scratching thing is shit to compared to pioneer...no precision.
wheeling up tunes is long as fuck sounds like shit on stantons.

I'd definitely like to hear more on this discussion as I'm looking to upgrade but I dunno if I wanna get Pioneers or Stantons. There is NO doubt in my mind that on paper the Stanton C.234 is a better choice for me than the pioneer 800s BUT I've heard from people that the Stantons will break down real fast, etc etc.
I wanna hear more about the Stanton CDJs from people who own/have owned them.

I DJ on Cdj 1000s for home mixing........however i wouldnt ever class vinyl as being ''outdated''. Vinyl culture will always be in dubstep whether you like it or not. If i had the time and money for vinyl i'd be on that.
If I were you i'd get the most expensive Pioneers that you can comfortably afford. 99.9% of clubs will have pioneers........so just go with them!!

oh so not true, Stantons are tanks.
Ive had my stantons for alittle over a year now, and theyve survived quiet alot.
Transported without a case, and all my fellow DJ's useing them. Not to metion they survived some crack head DJ spilling Vodka on it.
Also, another one of my friends had a pair and the worst thing on earth happend. We were setting up for a house party, and we were putting a B52 prodigy inbetween my friends Stantons, so we could hook it up, and as we were moving it, it knocked over one the on CDJ's. Now my heart just stopped when i heard it hit the hardwood floors. You never wanna hear that sound, trust me. So we picked it back up and it worked perfectly! not even a scratch, and 2 years later, that CDJ is still working.
Stanton c.324 are more then worth the money, there highly durable, honstely the only thing the pioneers have thats better then the Stantons is definitively the scratching. But the stantons are amazing. The pioneers may have a little more life expectancy but the Stantons will live for a long time

.
