Plasma? LCD? LED?

Hey fellas, was wondering if someone might be able to give me some clarity on this.... What is the difference between these types of TV's aside from cost? I assume that plasmas are the weaker of the the 3 based on cost alone, and have been told that they run hot which can cause images being burnt into the screen...however, frys electronics had 50" samsung plasmas on sale for $500..which makes this much more lucrative. Thanks in advance.

LED mate, had one for awhile now and it's the best picture i've ever seen on a TV. also so thin it might aswell not be there! really worth the investment as I don't see a new technology coming along for awhile apart from 3D TV's which i really see as a gimmick rather than an evolution.

Plasma's supposed to have the highest quality picture - and also is the most expensive and easy to break (literally, a minor jolt can throw some completely out of calibration.)
LED is - as I understand anyway - sort of just a different version of LCD. Both have come a long way in pic quality as compared to plasma.
I own an LCD and love it. Prices are coming down too.
