Jus wondering what the standard is, and which direction it's moving as time goes on.
Right now I'm finding about 143-145 bpm seems suitable. I generally like to pitch it up when I play it on the CDJ so I'm wondering if people aren't making thier tunes a bit faster...

That's a bit worrying to me when music is stuck in such a short range of action...
I'd like to see different kinds of dubstep emerge. Can't you people think of some speedstep or downtempodubz?
I'll be working on that.
Wait... I already did it... That's called "the long walk" and that is some sort of dark-lowtempo-dub. Check it! ->

Just warped MRK1's album in Ableton and every track is exactly 140. I've been making all my tracks exactly 140 too recently.

Where were you people before dubstep? Lot of dnb heads I guess.
I don't mean to be sarcastic. It's just that I enjoy pretty much the wide range of bpm and styles, musics such as breakcore, IDM or electronica can provide.

The question was what tempo do you make your dubstep at. You can save your funky figures for IDM
I understand what you're saying, that we shouldn't get caught in the trap of making the same mindless crap over and over but imo even if you do exclude bpm there are more than enough ways to be original with music anyway. Plus I mix with Ableton so tempo has become kinda transparent to me in that I can more or less change it whenever I want.
