TT500 or 1200 MK2

Probably a no brainer to most folk,
but if you think about it there really isnt much difference between these two turntables.
In fact id go as far to say the TT500 has some features over the 1200 MK2.
I allready own a pair of TT500's, is it worth upgrading? Will I even notice any difference?
Cheers

I used to own a set of TT500's and did the switch to 1210's a while ago. The truth of the matter is that the 500's do have a lot of features that the 1200's dont 4.5kg motor, reverse switch etc etc but those bells and whistles arent enough to sway me from the fact that the Techics are, quite simply, indestructable.
Also you need to bear in mind that they are the industry standard. Meaning if you want to play out you will have to do it on a set of unfamiliar decks. Some people find this transition easy others dont.

Stats dont mean a thing really. Look at technics stat sheet. has a weak motor (compared to like vestax) and it doesn't have reverse blah blah blah... But they just feel right, and are second to none. They will literally last a lifetime.

Technics all the way. the TT500 might be better but how many do you see in clubs? using a deck with a bigger motor at home is just going to make it harder for you when you play out.

Yeh thats exactly what im thinking re: the motor business.
its just kinda alot of money to drop when i allready have a perfectly working pair of TT500's ahah.
Tho, Ive always wanted a pair anyway. The only reason i got the 500's is because i got an amazing deal from a mate i couldnt turn down. That was about 2/3 years ago. Been good decks.
I'll keep my eye on the ebay, cheers.

"well the clubs have a weaker product, but it's standard so why get something better"

I REALLY like Vestax decks - they're perfect for me, feel, torque and the ones I used a lot had a lcd screen what told you where the pitch was.. (like 2.5) which was great for when you was in a badly lit room for references point for cueing the next track!
But, Technics are the only thing worth learning to DJ on - if you ever want to play out. Ive grown to absolutely adore the 1210s and I wouldn't settle for anything less at a club.
Ive turned down gigs what don't have 1210 just cause I know A) i'll probably flop and B) If a club can't even be bothered to run industry standard decks - do you really think they're going to keep them in good condition?
on the topic matter though - ive never used the TT500 but they're Numark and ive used other Numarks (high and low range) and they're hard to transition to, from Technics!

yeh thats sorta the thing, i want to start to play out and dont wanna struggle when getting on different decks.
ive used 1210's before, had some for about 3 months while a mate went on holiday, wasnt too hard to transfer, but i wouldnt like to put that too the test in a club lol.
ah. decisions.
whats a good price for a set of used (but good condition) mk2's these days, about 300?

My advice? Find a friend whos local and have a mixing sesh around theres once a week.. I don't have technics at home - infact I have really shit decks at home but I go to T4X's once a week for radio... Now I can transfer between my home setup and his - naturally. that way - saves you money and gets you adjusted to switching.

What about for learning to scratch/juggle/other turntablist activity on? Do people in this field still swear to 1210s for the stability factor? Or is this out weighed by other features more usefull or functional to an aspiring wizard
Infact does anyone care to mention what any of the 'big in the game' names use for producing the wiki-wiki?
Thx
