I'd hazard a guess as to FM synthesis?
Not a clue how you'd go about programming it though
And I'm assuming this is legit to post- There's a "Luthatron sample pack" lurking somewhere 'round here with a bunch of the most amazing pad samples in it if all else fails.

just sounds like two sawtooths with detune, sidechained and highpassed to me, idk if we're talking about the same thing though.

sounds like a pretty straight forward pad that's sidechained to give it that rhythmic pumping effect

if you mean the sound rising and falling in time, it's probably a rising lfo modulating the amp.
or it's sidechained to a kick you don't hear (sweet... i'll try if this works now :D )

Well, yeah. But the most defining characteristic is some light vocodin'. Just get a basic patch of 2 saws or something going with some LP'ing and then mess with a vocoder and play with the wetness until it suits you.

couple of saw wave osc's detuned and with slight vibrato--> HP filter with rising sawtooth LFO on cutoff---> static LP filter----> tape delay w/ long feedback----->lush verb = gold

Yup, sounds very similiar to the pad sound i used in 'Intima', which is also a vocoder/synth hybrid.
