*sony acid pro 7 users* - tempo change of beats

Post by blak powdah » Mon Dec 06, 2010 5:53 pm

hey all

i have recently started using sony acid pro 7 and cannot for the life of me figure out how to change single beats back to their original tempo's

ill try explain in the simplest way possible please bare with us

1. when starting a new mix the bpm or tempo is set at 120 and you can change it to whatever tempo genre you want, obviously i set mine to 140 bpm for dubstep

2.when i add in my kick beats for example which the *original* tempo is say (199.052 bpm) it will play at 140 bpm so sounds slower and off key

3.when i right click on the beat to change it back to its original tempo the whole mix tempo changesup to the original tempo of the beat thus off keying all the other beats in the mix???????

alls i want to do is be able to add in the beats as they sound when i play them and not try keep messing about with this tempo malarky its driving me up the wall

anyone with a sensible answer to this question need reply as i have asked a few supposedly "technically minded" heads about this and even they dont know

any help is appreciated

ok, either i misunderstood your problem either the solution is really easy:

in acid you can have your samples/drum hits/whatever played as loops (then acid will timestretch them to the bpm of your project and most probably distort them/add artifacts, thats your pb if i understood correctly) or as one shots

you want to set your drum hits as one shots, on the left side of the screen right click on the little colored square with the number of the track, you'll see all the samples/hits that are used in this track, click on the one you want to set as one shots and it'll open a window where you can change it.

hope this helps

as i said click on the colored square with the number of the track that you can see on the left side of the screen, should open a window with the track properties, where you can choose between "Loop" "One Shot" or "Beatmapped"

here, check the screenshot next to the part that reads "As mentioned before, not all tracks on the timeline are "Acidized" loops. In "Properties View," you can change what Acid does with each track" to see what you're looking for

http://teach.fcps.net/trt15/Sound/Music/acid2.htm

as a rule of thumb i'd say its a good habit to take to set everything as one shot, so acid doesnt mess up anything if you change the tempo of your project
