MPK25 Help

Got an MPK25, can't get it to work.

I'm using windows 7. The MPK25 is on, the screen is lit up and what not.
When I plug it into my computer via USB, it says "device driver not installed successfully."
I installed Ableton Live Lite Akai edition, thinking maybe that would help, but it didn't. When I go to the midi options, MPK25 isn't there at all.
I mainly use FL studio 9, and this is what I see there: http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/9804/midi.png (too big to embed apparently)

I've been browsing google and different forums for a while now, but nothing has helped. Hopefully someone here can!

I got it. Finally. I'm so glad I went to page 35 of google.

From "Mhansen" on the Vyzor forums.
This took way too long for me to figure out. I couldn't use the MPK49 on my main PC (Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit) for more than 6 months, it sucked. The device manager showed an Akai MPK49, but there was a yellow exclamation mark saying the device was not recognized. When opening the Vyzek editor, no Midi In or Midi Out ports were available. It's confusing because there are no drivers for this plug and play device, right? Well, try this and see if it helps:

Right click the Akai MPK49 click "Update Driver Software".
Choose "Browse my computer for driver software".
Search for driver software in this location: "C:\" (or on whatever drive you have Windows installed).
Make sure "Include subfolders" is checked and click next.
It will find a driver that isn't digitally signed (or my PC did anyway), click "Continue Anyway" and it will install the driver.
The wizard will finish with a "Your device has successfully been installed" which was great to see.
Now open Vyzek editor and see if it helped!

I knew right when I opened Vyzek editor that this had fixed the problem, because the software instantly started communicating with the Akai. It worked! I hope this can help someone out.

- Matt

If anyone is having problems with their MPK25 not showing up on a 64bit OS, there HOPEFULLY (for me and Mhansen) is the solution.

Yea, I'm in the same boat. I got an M-Audio Axiom 49 a while back and had this same issue. My Win7 64bit would install the drivers with no problems but when I tried to actually use the controller with Ableton or Midi-Ox for that matter, there was no midi signal. The controller worked flawlessly on my WinXP laptop. So I returned that thinking it was a piece of incompatible junk only to purchase an Akai APC40 and find out that it too has the same god damn issue that no one seems to have the solution for. I'm pulling my hair out... Someone needs to figure this out or I'm quitting windows and going linux.

EDIT: I read on another thread that this was resolved using an external USB hub. I went out and bought one. Nothing changed. This is not the solution. And on yet another thread I read that by using an audio interface the problem went away. I don't know if this is true or not, but I don't want to drop another $100 just to get my midi controller to work, I'm not at that level yet.

DUDE you are the first person I have come across in my hours of ruthless research who describes my exact same issue. I plug it in, LED screen lights up, computer says driver is installed, but Ableton and Reason do not read the MIDI signal. Nothing. If you find a solution PLEASE let me know. thanks. :Q:

hmmm had the first problem you descibed and then i used that update driver software include subfolders fix and it worked on win7 64bit with my mpk49. i never even touched vyvex though.
try the driver fix again and restart your pc, also check your DAW that its reading the midi inputs right
