help me out, im a newbie

Post by town_glory » Sat Dec 25, 2010 8:41 pm

i literally just got introduced to the mixing world with traktor scratch duo... present from my dad, merry christmas everyone.
so i've got it all downloaded, set up completed, but i actually have no idea what im doing. but i have a huge interest in music, and i'm so anxious to know how to use my new equipment. i have a few questions that'll probably take you pro's seconds to answer so please help me out!
-soo i need a set of turntables right? i heard technics 1200s are a good starting place.. any other suggestions?
-whats the difference between turntables and a controller.. in terms of mixing music?
-all i have is my A4DJ connected to my mac through a usb; i can't hear sound when i play a track through traktor, is that because i don't have turntables hooked up?

i'm a totally helpless girl if you can't tell by now. i guess that's all the questions i have because that's as far as i've gotten so far ha. help is appreciated, thanks guys

explain your routing!
scratch duo... get some tables or CDJs
turns=olskool style djn, controller = nuskool/easier

quite abit of fun tho! I got mine about a month ago... run thru ma 1200s & 2 external mixers .. FUNTIMES!

It really depends on what you want to do and where you want to go... I use controllers and turntables both... Prefer the vinyl feel, but some see them as a hassle... Experiment, experiment, experiment... Merry Christmas and good luck!
