Hello Fourm!
I Decided to join after about 6 months of lurking. So I just wanted to say, I love this forum, It has helped me so much but still allowed me to create a sound of my own.
With that out of the way it's time for my question.

So just recently for Christmas I got a pair of ATH M40fs Headphones.
They are not the best but, I produce for a hobby so I'm happy never the less.
My parents said that they thought that a 1/8th to 1/4th inch adapter came with the headphones but they were wrong.
I asked them If instead of buying an Adapter we could buy and ASIO (I am working on a laptop, and have a very bad sound card)
They are very reluctant.
How much more would an ASIO actually help me?
And can you please direct me to one that is affordable?
I am currently using Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 Its default on my laptop.

If there is any system information, that i could show you that would help you help me ( Thats a mouth full ) then please just request it and tell me how to get that information and i would gladly post it.

Do you think that the ASIO will help me alot? or would it be something I shouldn't invest in...

I would skip that asio thing. If there is no way for you to hear what's going on then pick up a jack to minijack adaptor in the meantime and get something like the focusrite when you can afford it.

For reference ASIO is a type of audio driver generally used in music production systems because of its low latency and high fidelity.
What you are in fact after is a soundcard that supports ASIO...

However lowpass is right, for the moment just buy an adaptor as you can get one for about a quid and a soundcard is considerably more.
I personally wouldn't bother getting a soundcard right now, I would wait until I could afford it and some decent speakers until you spent the money, but thats just my opinion.

Yeah you don't really need a different soundcard. Just download free ASIO4ALL drivers.
Getting a soundcard won't help you produce music any differently but getting ASIO drivers will help reduce the audio latency you experience with MME/DX drivers.
You'll get a lot of the gain without the cost.
