Just landed a gig as a sound guy for an indie movie being shot here in Utah. Apparently Utah is turning into a mecca for shooting movies because of enticing tax breaks for movies shot here. Anyways, I replied to an ad on Craigslist asking for a sound man, linked em to my soundcloud and BAM! Apparently I'm the sound guy on this movie. I'm hoping they have field recording equipment and whatnot. And don't expect me to know Pro Tools. (fuck it, i'll learn it right quick if so though. I've taught myself Reason, Cubase, and Ableton already, why not one more?) Anyways, Just thought you guys might wanna consider attempting this path as well. What a fuckin trip... I'm in over my head, but I'm quite the paddler, so I WILL make this work. Thanks for all the help so far. Really.

so are you scoring it, doing sound design, or a sound guy? the sound guy part is usually the boom mic guys in which case on an indie budget they more than likely will expect you to have your own gear
then again film guys generally know as much about audio as we do about film

It's called The Masonic Map. But i don't really give a fuck. I mean, i guess I do, but really I'm more stoked on the experience. Its some action flick relating to the masons and their society. I'll know more tonight. Meeting with the producers at 7.

Sound design for sure, IE special effects, etc. Not sure if I'll be writing the score or if they have the budget to clear samples or what. But, they've said I can be in charge of sound. Period. As to equipment, the last film this crew worked on had a $500k budget. They said they spent much of that on equipment. Not sure what the budget is on this one. Whatever, like I say, I'm looking forward to the opportunity.

And, I did already explain to them in my reply what equipment i bring to the table. Monitors, condenser mic, keyboard, and guitars. So, I would certainly imagine they have SOME sound equipment. They did get another movie done.
