what does everybody think of the heavy metal bands making dubstep tunes?

I don't think these are exactly heavy metal, but since I heard this, I've had a pretty shut mind towards newcomers from that sort of background.

I think he actually headbutts a cymbal at one point. The whole thing is just awful.

To be fair to Enter Shikari they've been putting dance elements into their music since they started out so if there is a band who can be slightly let off it's them. I remember seeing them when i was about 14 and they use Electribes, kaoss pads and grooveboxes live. Still a terrible video though

I don't care as long as it's good... Enter Shikari, Hadouken and there respective fans unfortunately don't seem to get what dubstep actually is though I am interested to see what Papa Roach's new stuff is going to be like, especially as they say it's not explicitly dubstep per se more based on the groove (which hopefully means half-time triplet skanking!)

No one has actually made anything credibly good on this tip.

I reckon it could be done very well, and very dark.

All about producing it right.

That goon Skrillex was part of a 'metal' (whatever genre it is) band and that speaks for itself...

guys, im quite close to the lead singer of shikari and fairplay, i honestly dont like their "dubstep" vibe. point is, the lead singer Rou has his own side project that he incorporates into the main band, which in my opinion he shouldnt fucking do. his actual production as a solo project, "rout", is honestly incredible. i really like his solo stuff, check it out, http://soundcloud.com/rout. he has an album, "spirit of humanity" which you can buy but if anyones interested ill send it to you, it is fuckin awesome. really fresh new sound.

Scorn - Refuse, Start Fires (2010, Ohm Resistance) to see how it is done. However, Scorn's sound outdates most dubstep tunes (like autechre and many other similar acts). But the tempo and elements are similar to dubstep's. And he mixes live drums with it. Scorn (mick harris from Napalm Death etc. ) also uses mostly hardware to produce. Check it out (if you haven't already):

why can't people just listen to distance and vex'd, this sound has been done to perfection already.

Had it not been for that oddly placed synths over the track you could easily mistake that for a triphop track from the late 90's to early 2000's, its very Massive Attack and Portishead.

I was going to say wasn't Distance in a metal band of some sort, you could really tell that influenced him in his early stuff and the occasional track now and then like Menace.

'Heavy Metal Grime' was amazing, got released in 2006 and I can't find it anywhere now I used to hate it on the radio until I heard it at Exodus, it was one of those "Woah" moments

massive tune, he works in my college.

dont know why i would have thought he'd have bareee money after napalm death and scorn.

Aside from scorn which is a metaller doing electronic music production everyone can fuck off.

Real metal bands can't incorporate dubstep into their sound.

People like enter shikari can't do metal or electronic music for shit.

I'll stick with Iron Monkey, Weedeater, Coffins, Mistress etc for metal

And people like Tunnidge, Distance, Coki, Kromestar, Pinch etc for dubstep
