6s give noticeably more bass (though I might trust the 5s to be the flattest of the lot, bass on 8s is ridiculous) and you can get them new for £300 if you're lucky. So doesn't seem like much of a bargain to me. Even 6s can be too much bass-wise in a small room though.

Buy a hi-fi if you want bass. If you want a flat response buy monitors

In that case I'd say they're fine, just that 300 for the pair isn't necessarily the best deal you could get. If you're doing your mate a favour by buying them then fair enough.

Oh. Well maybe you send me £150 and so I can get taught how to read.

£150 is good for the RP5s but you can get similarly priced speakers with way more bass for that money, if you're just DJing you might want to the option of shaking the whole house.

yeah, i've got a mate that works at ritchr sounds and says i'd need a decent pair of speakers and an amp to get similar power, at least with the rokits theyre active!

If you rinse them they can go more than loud enough for just listening purposes. I'd say its a good deal.

I got a pair of Rokit 8's man and they sound beaootiful, I was looking at getting a pair of 5's or 6's just because of price but opted for the 8's cos of the low freq response, if cos you're saving alot of money on the nearfields maybe try buying the KRK Sub to go with em? It's like 300 so it'll be 450 for the whole system but it'll be worth it in the long run, but thas assuming you have the money for that if not yet then a 150 for Rokit 5's a is a bargain mayte

At £150 snap em up man! Can save and add a sub later on if you want proper bass.

This.

I don't get why people splash out on monitors when they don't reeeeaaallly need em. For that price, a set of hi-fi speakers will go a lot louder, and come with a phatass sub - which you're not going to get with the Rokits.
