Just need a nudge in the right direction...

Post by kuntmuffin » Tue Jan 04, 2011 10:51 pm

Hello all,

I have been producing Dubstep for about 5 months or so, I went to school for audio engineering and I got hooked on Dubstep because of how unbelievably complicated it is. Great challenge, love it :hugegrin

Anywho, I have been trying to get a sound similar to Flux Pavillion/Trolley Snatcha - not to rip off, just for little accents to my sound in the middle of beefy drops. Quick little "tucka tucka tucka" then on to the next sound. I think it is the element I need to complete my tracks.

Example - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnoHD5psSmM

I can get the low end of it down no problem, I just can't seem to get a beefy higher-end sound out of my wobble.

I am using a PAID FOR copy of massive, got CamelPhat, Nexus 2, Predator, you name it, I got it, and I'm running out of ProTools 8 HD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've been visiting these forums everyday for forever and the time has come to finally reach out for help :6:

Thanks!

Good results take time. It's not exactly something that you can teach...
Lets face it; if we all knew how to bang out midrange bass like the pros, we'd be doing it, not talking about it

Patience is key. And lots of mindnumbing experimentation :corndance

This, Anyone who says they can do it, without a track to back it up, is full of shit (this forum is full of people who do that).

You have to sit and stare at your computer, maybe look at some basic tutorials if you're just starting out, but ultimately no one can teach you how to make a sick bass for YOUR music, inventing your own sounds, or even the same sounds as someone else, is something that should happen through YOUR thought processes, and is one of the most important things that you need to learn in electronic music. If you're just going to ask people for help when you can't figure something out, and pray that someone else can hold your hand, you need to find a new hobby.

Wow, you're about as useful as the Bungie.net forums. Holy shit, did you even read my post, I'm not new at audio engineering, and all I asked for was a nudge. Not a preset, tutorial, or anything like that, a nudge. Like what to actually apply the LFO to so I don't lose my highs/mids.

Forgive me for mentioning that I pay for my VST's, because thats all I ever see, is people posting problems with their crashing pirated software, only to get ripped to shreds by all the "other cool kids" here.

And you're right, if everyone could do it, they would, but guess what, they can't. None of you can. Which is why you insist on trolling these forums. What kind of a community is this?

For every good, educational post by someone like narrator, etc, I have to sift through pages and pages of bullshit... and it's fucking terrible.

How many of you use ProTools, the industry standard for audio recording, mastering, and engineering?
How many of you actually know how to master, not use mixer presets?

How many of you actually go to a real studio, with patch bays, effects processors, racks, and physical instruments?

I have respect for about 3% of the members on this site, and I was hoping while I was in the studio today, to maybe get some advice or a tip or two from one of them. But no, everyone is balls deep in Skrillex and talking shit. :u:

*FLAME RETARDANT SUIT ACTIVATED* do your worst. :middlefinger

You can't really judge our production just because we're assholes. just saying.

Fuck off proper, you came into this with the wrong attitude and got legitimate advice from everyone anyway, You can cry victim all day, but we'll still be here making tunes and talking music regardless of what you have to say about us.

I can hear my gas cooker give off a high frequency when I have the gas on low, not sure if it's faulty machinery or I'm just too concentrated on the audio. :r:

Oh look at you, you can add delay and chorus to a weak as fuck bass line. I'll give you props for being able to actually arrange something, but you're not blowing up, so sit the fuck down. Have fun with your shitty robostep you fuckin unoriginal bastard.

You can't really ask how to make a sound like "so-and so"
You need to ask specific questions on what you want to know if you want answers
