Hey people,
I'm new to this forum so hiya everyone.
One question I have is on the topic of the 16 bit track called 'Chainsaw Calligraphy' if you are big dubstep fans then you would have heard this one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UexCBJF_n-4
Anyway i use FL studio for my music production, but my question is how do you guys think he gets that damn right filthy sound? I've seen many tuts on youtube of people attempting to help you with plugins such as NI Massive. But none of them seem to really get that sort of 'Filth' sound.
I am also talking about the filth sound in general here guys, would it involve carrying a sound file over a modulator? or creating the bassline sound from a preset in a plugin such as Massive or toxic biohazard? If so then how could this be achieved ?
Cheers people and would be great to get some reply's
Ryan

Re: Getting that 16 bit chainsaw calligraphy sound?
Hello mate, welcome to the forum.
This question gets asked quite a lot (the general 'filth' sounds, not just about 16BIT) so there's a sticky at the top of the forum.

Read through all of that and all the linked threads and you'll have more than enough knowledge.

Re: Getting that 16 bit chainsaw calligraphy sound?
I believe he just resampled the sound of the chainsaw using certain sections with a rising lowpass filter going up or down played at a higher note.
at least that's what i can gather from listening to it.
Keep in mind though, there are a ton of different ways to achieve a specific sound.
you should experiment and find your own style.
