The Last of the 'End of Year' lists : Top 50 tracks!

I promise, this will be the last of those endless lists and blogs you'll have to read.

http://submeditation.wordpress.com/2011 ... st-tracks/

Please read. A comprehensive list of the 50 best tracks to emerge in the broader spectrum of UK Bass music. Except for D&B, D&B I don't do...
Also featured are a list of the top 10 remixes of 2010 and a top 15 dubstep's dance floor/ tear out tunes that I put in a separate list. Hope you enjoy but most importantly, find something you yourself have overlooked. Feel free to discuss some of the surprising entries or absentees. I seem to always prefer the B-side of big plates and that shows a couple of time in the list.

Cheers,
J.

I hope this really was the last one :ukking: . People here don't seem to like blogs. Surely these things are not a complete waste of time?!?

Hehe I warned you. I'm sure you won't be the only one questioning some of the decisions.
But in my defence :
The reason I put Footsteppin' over Chazm is because the latter has (to me of course) a bit of trance vibe. I'm not saying that's a fact, just saying the synths or something always remind me of trance. I loathe trance. Rhythmically, chazm is a very big tune I'd agree to that. But Footsteppin', as I stated on the blog, is just pure melancholy to my ears.
As for 2 Hot, what can I say...sometimes things just click :) . This tune has bits of everything and that's why I love it.

In the end I'm not there to convince anyone.

Mo offense but a top 50 list with tracks like this not including 'Glut' and 'Clap Trap' is a disgrace!
Also classing 'Xylophobia' and 'City Cycle' as tear out :a:
I understand it's taste and opinion but I'm surprised at these choices considering the rest seems about right.

no offence but I clearly stated I tried not to mention one artist more than once. Also, I tried spreading credit around a bit. Glut was not my favourite ramadanman track at all. I think tracks like "fall short", "work them", "Pitter" and "Mir" endlessly better than "Glut" which is a seriously overrated tune in the first place. I think Hemlock in general delivered better tunes than glut.
A good point about the "Claptrap" though. But as I said, I always overlook releases and to be fair, the releases you physically own always prove more memorable than the ones you know about.

Calling this list "a disgrace" just because of those two tracks is infact a disgrate to me to be honest. And I can handle quite a bit of criticism.

"City Cycle" and "Xylophobia" are tracks that set the dance floor on fire the past year, at least the parties I went to. Or at least, I went off when hearing these tracks. "Tear Out" was perhaps a bad choice of words, but I assumed people would get the general idea.

Again, I can take the criticism, but terms like "disgrace" seem very out of place.

I didn't mean it to come across like that, it was a kind off light hearted comment. If I meant disgrace in a serious way I wouldn't of put a explantion mark after disgrace to give off a more serious vibe.
Maybe I should of included a few of these :corndance: :) :D 8) :e: :W: ??
For me Glut was the biggest track of 2010 which had the biggest effect on me, I'm just a bit surprised that you don't like this track out of the 50 that you chose! :)

All right safe mate. My bad for jumping to conclusions. Thanks for the input and thanks for reading. Goes to show how personal music is. 'Glut' did make it to most top 10's so I guess general opinion favours it to be a good track.

Ramadanman will have my support for the DSF awards though. I'm voting him for best producer for sure. :spam:

Definitely, 2010 truly was the year of the Ramadanman.

For me the top 10 releases of 2010 were:

1. Ramadanman - Glut / Tempest
2. Digital Mystikz - Return to space LP
3. Benny Ill vs J King - Kosmic 78 / Lithium Soular
4. Addison Groove - Footcrab / Dumbshit
5. Joe - Clap Trap / Level Crossing
6. V.I.V.E.K - Feel it EP
7. Pearson Sound - Blanked / Blue Eyes
8. Pearson Sound - Down with you / Higher
9. Pinch - Croydon House / Elements
10. DVA - Natty / Ganja

This list could be criticised for not having any Night Slugs releases but I could assure that Mosca - Square one EP would be number 11!

Great list. Would love it if you could post previews on your blog, as then people wouldn't have to go elsewhere to find the music. Thanks for sharing! :D

cheers for reading and commenting!

Agreed on the later releases thing. I suppose it's a natural process : out of sight out if mind kinda thing you know.

I should probably have included the following artists somewhere :

A made up Sound
Blawan
Boddika
DJ Madd
Joe
Joy Orbison
Kontext
LV
Peverelist
Submotion Orchestra
Terror Danjah
Truth
Untold
VIVEK

But it is what it is. Better effort next year :sofa:

really feeling that list; handful of tracks i wouldn't expect to see on a 'best of...' list, but definitely persies for me, you have good taste.
