KRK rp5 (any good?)

basically im after a single monitor speaker purely for mixing (not producing) in my studio, does anyone own one or a pair of these and basically do you rate them?? are they clear and crisp in sound?
i bought some cheap alesis and they are muffled to shit so im sendin them back and exchangin them for the krk's (if they are good)

Re: KRK rp5 (any good?)
mixing djing you mean?
i have a pair for producing
they sound sick. nice and clear highs. some people say too harsh, but i like them. bass cuts off quite early, apparently the rp6 have a lot more.

Re: KRK rp5 (any good?)
I've got RP8s and their the way to go if you can afford them, If not RP6s.
I got mine, had some mates listen to them, one got mine and 2 got RP6s. Went to the shop with another to get 5s and he walked away saying he would save up for 6s and their bass response. 5s are good, but you make dubstep and dubstep needs a much better bass response than they give.
Unless you have a sub, then go for it.

Re: KRK rp5 (any good?)
well thing is i dont produce i just mix. i have 2 tasll speakers, they provide the bass im just after a little monitor with a crisp clear sounding highs to enable me to hear the beat well you see. like i said i bought the alesis and they sound muffled so i struggle to hear the beat.
if it is as you say and they produce a nice clean sound im not too worried about bass then i think ill go for them

Re: KRK rp5 (any good?)
Yeah for mixing they'll be stellar. It's better if you're in the sweet spot with them and they really go nice with a sub - too small of a cabinet for just the monitors.
I used to have a pair of these but I upgraded to the HR824s because I wanted bass without having to use a sub.
for mixing they're great yeah just get a sub - it'll sound BOOM

if you're on a budget like me they will do just fine and are a great value. but like previous posters, a sub would go great they're just a tad lacking on the low end. but clear and lush mids and highs

Re: KRK rp5 (any good?)
eh?
well the outs on the djm are rca right? and on the rp5s there are rca, balanced jacks and xlrs.
so you need a cable that has rca on one end and any of the others on the other end.
plug the left output into your left rp5 and the right output into your right rp5.

Re: KRK rp5 (any good?)
for one i have only bought one rc5 cuz im just usin it for mixin and prefer just one. you say i need a cable with rca on one end but the rca have 2 plugs (red and white) so which one do i plug in? and you say i have to have on the other endf either the 1/4 or the xlr...well theres normally 2 plugs at the end of the wire with them aswell yet theres only 1 input for each on the back of the speaker. im fuckin clueless lol sorry

Re: KRK rp5 (any good?)
the red and white are exactly the same, its just two cables (so you can have left and right).
if you're only using one speaker, then use whatever is your favourite colour. as long as its the same at both ends.

Re: KRK rp5 (any good?)
plug it into the master out.
those djms have a mono/stereo switch right? switch it to mono as you only have one speaker.

Re: KRK rp5 (any good?)
yep just plugged one white end into the speaker and the red and white end into the master out, switched it on and got horrendously loud feedback so switched it off quickly lol

setup is decks and mixer, also run 2 tall speakers of an amp which i normally plug into master out (for the purpose of trying the new speaker i unplugged these to plug the speaker into)
mate knowin my experience ive probs got the bloody mixer wired up wrong n all sorts lol ill explain how everythin is wired, left deck hooked up to box 1 in 'CD' at the back, right deck hooked up to box 2 in 'CD' then after that is just my amp into master out
