For me its creating the drums. i love how they can pop and really set a-side a track from another with poor drum programming. too many ideas for drum patterns

Would agree on the drums, I like messing with sub alot too!
But most of all it's being able to manipulate the sound of anything how I see fit.
Could make harmonies, or retrigger it. The choice is endless!

I like making basses, its so rewarding to get a unique and more importantly usable sound after what often ends up as hours of messing around with albino. also getting the final arrangement sorted and seeing it all come together, its a relief sometimes.

Forcing an unwilling passerby to listen to my work in progress and flipping out when they say "it's alright"

My favourite aspect is when I turn something rather mundane into something that gives me that "Yeah this sounds pretty good" moments.

I like when I realize that the tune that I'm going to create is almost challengingly different. There is a big part of me that says "yeah we'll make some dirty bass today because people will like it"- but so what? When I lay down something that's straight from my heart - that's it for me. It doesn't matter if anyone canes it or not - the music is pure. I think that's it for me. It makes me smile and I hear the hook in my head for weeks/months/years. Not all tunes are like that but those are the moments that I feel I am a true artist - when the music comes from my heart, not from my ego. The peice in my sig is like this. You'll probably never hear it in a club, but it brings me great joy to know that you might listen to my song and enjoy it. I have the djs say that this one they don't feel but I didn't send it to them so they could cane it.

just for a listen

i also love chatting the geeky technical side of it and technology (hell see my blog)
just jamming out on my keyboard when i have a sick patch going is another favorite and prolly why i get so lil done when it comes to composing as i can get lost just jamming out and coming up with melodies or lines
other than that i lovvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeee drums <3

Favorite part: writing melodies, chords, harmonies, etc. Arranging sections into a full song.
Least favorite part: Most "production-oriented" tasks (mixdowns, FX, designing new patches, messing with samples, etc).

Probably effects processing for me. I love it when I take a pretty dry signal and tack some effects/devices ontop of it, then tweak some knobs till I find one with that sweet spot where i'm just like "ooh.... groovy!"

Yeah on the technical side hearing elements working well together is pretty rewarding
