studios/producers/colaborators best for dubstep production??

Post by faceless » Mon Jan 10, 2011 10:27 am

hey all,
i dont know if this is in the right place - apologies if not and it gets deleted, not tryna p*ss anyone off just need some help!

i am currently an artist who has spent the last three years rapping, song writing and colaborating on other peoples tunes, but with all the rubbish in the music industry recently, i lost a lot of love for it..

to cut a long story short, - then i heard dubstep last year and got into it heavily, and now i remembered why i loved it in the first place.

i reckon the industry is gonna explode this year...2011 is the year for dub with all the up and coming artists at the moment, and i dont think you can get better than pure english dubstep.

i have written a lot of stuff for dub, as an mc and a singer ive put some stuff together that i think will really work with the up and coming scene, just the studios and producers ive used so far are mainly rap and hip hop focused, or a little bit more pop and commerical.

hense why i need peoples help? can any one recommend any good producers or studios, people to work with to help with the beat production for my tunes?

i know exactly what i want and have A LOT of material....but as a typical girl thats more mc and singer, im just not too good on the producing side and have always had help with it.

if any one knows any one, studios/producers etc that i could go to it would be a big help?

sorry if this is the worng thread for this, i'd repost it somewhere more appropriate but i had a look and theres no artists thread!

thanks for your time guys, big up the movement - its where its at and its here to stay.

You're more likely to get a better response for Dub producers from other forums such as: http://www.interruptor.ch/php5/dubboard . There's some reggae board my mate uses, I'll see if I can find the address. your best bet though is to go to the nights and make links. There's a massive dub night in bristol called Teachings in Dub, I met Stryda from Dubkasm there and ended up doing a remix for his Dub/Steppas album 'Transform I'. Though I notice the majority of vocalists I have heard in studios and on tracks always have that jamaican/african inflection to their voice, vaguely racist I guess. But most will say it's in 'keeping to the roots'.

Fuck me. I just reread your post. If you meant dubSTEP as opposed TO THE OTHER MUCH MORE POPULAR AND SUCCESSFUL CUNTING GENRE 'DUB', I'm going to ban someone.

Thanks Pete,

quick reply and big help, will check out Teachings and see what i can do.
i get what your saying bout the vocals, its true it seems to stay true to type , but as dub is becoming more distinctive, im hoping i can put my stamp on it too.

thanks man,

It's okay, I'll pop my hernia back in.

If you want to draw dubstep producers in it might be worth posting a clip of your voice, work on a track, etc. And saying if you're into the tear out brostep stuff, breaky stuff, meditative stuff etc.

if you asking for partners and producers the collaborate with, I'd recommend checking out some of the 'Dubs' forum to find producers you like. And as long as you aint asking for feedback and/or just promoting yourself, there's no problems with posting a few things in here so people know what they're getting.

How about dropping your clips here as well for the people who find it easier to subscribe to this thread rather than hunt down your post in the dubs section.

I was lookin to collab on doing a dubstep version of a track i did in 06, ive always thought vocals would of been good on it.

youtube link to it being used in an afro samurai fan vid (so all those vocal samps arnt in it)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EjeNoTyNhc

then on the myspace is the pre-protools version (kept on because we didnt have time to master up the violin and it was taken out of the final version)
