funky house generally has less of the euphoric sidechainy synths
also, better funky house - at least in my mind - has more focus on interesting percussion and drum programming, rather than a bar loop pasted through the whole thing - all about syncopation, thats where the funky bit comes from
i actually quite liked this though, the melody in the breakdown was pretty cool, though the piano needs some work on the production

yea, although the rhythm and tempo is pretty similar to what you would hear with funky, those trancey synths don't really give it that feel, pretty interesting though

i still don't understand how the term 'funky house' seems to have got hijacked to describe stuff like crazy cousinz etc.

classic funky house shares very few similarities

A massive amount of Garage dj's all started playing house after Jon Cutlers 'Its Yours' came out...

Passion FM was the most popular station newly playing this music, Funky House, fast forward a couple of years stations like De Ja Vu started to play Cure And The Cause and some older Dj Gregory stuff like Block Party and Tropical Soundclash/Damelo etc calling all of what was being played Funky House, which then started to be called 'Funky' by the lesser informed/newer listener, when NG's Tell me or Fingaprints Takeover came out it was tagged UK Funky or Funky.

Those "trancey synths" are actually quite a common characteristic in a lot of UK Funky. And a some of the "Funky House" that crosses into UK Funky territory.

Just go to ukfunky.com and you'll hear loads of it.

I hate discussing all this genre nonsense but it's true.
