Dj's that play out, how do you balance work and gigs?

Need advice on this, currently unemployed but i really need a job, however i don't know how i would balance the two seeing as ill be playing out alot more in 2011, im not really in the position to be picky on what job i can have but don't want to get fired for taking time off to play gigs..

intrested in how some of you guys do it :dunce:

Get a part time job (anywhere) working afternoons. 12-6 or something. Say you have other commitments that mean you cant work evenings or mornings.

yeah, just be prepared to be tired and feel like a zombie a lot. Best bet is to try and get a job where you defo wont be working weekends. That way youll always have sat/sun day time to be horizontal. and (probably) only the occasional weekday to feel like a mong.

You could always try get agency work instead of 'proper' work; that way you have no commitment; they'll ring u one day and say do you want to work tomorrow, and you can choose!

thanks man, i spose... id like to keep down a steady job but urfghghhh

i dont really go out much like in general, only really go to clubs and such but i need the money for new equip and travel etc.. a car even, and i cant make this off djing alone just quite yet hahah

part time work just doesn't bring in enough cash for me to even live properly in London, so If i was playing out twice a week I would still want a 9-5 office job or something.
