The best way to discover new tunes

Hello!

I have noticed, while making researches about dubstep on the internet that the few ways that exist to search for new songs don't really work.

Facebook being the most consulted platform (even if I actually don't like it), I've just created a page, with a simple principle:
The users share the songs they appreciate, new discoveries or classics, even home made productions, generally through youtube links. Then the others users vote by "liking" the videos they have enjoyed, and the most liked are broadcast back to the members.
It's the most democratic way to share music, and the system works, I have already tried it with other registers. Rapidly, the global quality of the posts increases, insuring you to automatically receive what passionate people have enjoyed.
There are rarely 2 posts a day, usually one, so that the news feed doesn't become overloaded.

Here is the link, so don't hesitate to share your favorite tunes:
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/page ... 885?v=wall

As said, it has been created a few days ago, feel free to help me by sharing the link, I know the first times to be "rude", with a few people, but as soon as there will be a thousand people (within a month), the system is amazingly efficient.
You can already check the few links that have been posted, but you should easily be able to do better.

The more we are, the more we share, so try to spread the word.

Enjoy!

When did listening to music ever need to be democratic? You search for your music through going to nights, talking to people, finding a label you like then branching off an finding out about it and the artists in it, not through some weak, regulated, facebook association.
Rapidly the global quality of the posts increases...you sound like you're doing a business forcast.

Most of people actually don't move their fat asses to meet interested and interesting people to discover music nowadays.
It needs to be democratic since the birth of broadcasting through the internet, you wouldn't maybe even have heard about dubstep without Internet if the register hadn't been shared. How to allow people to make concerts, create labels, with unknown music? How do you explain the fact that dubstep, which "didn't exist" 5 years ago, and is now a reference within electronic music? That any other register has ever know such a development?
It is democratic since most of people discover music through google and youtube, which make artists and songs visible by others users only if first people to see it have liked it. Internet is evolving, people should adapt, even if the fastest growing register is still considered as underground by its fans (what a f****** joke indeed), it is as underground as burgers.
By quality I don't mean objective quality, which doesn't exist with music, I mean a way more subjective quality, which is considered as "truth for most of people" within any field linked to art. Appreciated by majority is quality, what else could it possibly be?

Maybe, and you better should adapt. Nobody thought that a computer might lead to musical discoveries at its birth, same with google, youtube, and now facebook. People are spending time on it, their share videos and therefore songs. The music we listen to depends upon technology, so should be the way we share it. Facebook is the best way to share information, music has become information.
Also, as a reproach, you underlined the way I presented the page, kind of business related. Indeed, english isn't my mother language, what explains the way I try to express my thoughts, and the language mistakes I might have made.
I am trying to do something to help the broadcast of music, not to read craps written by people who thinks that there are the only ones listening to the most current liked form of electronic music. I go to concert anytime I can, I have seen the influence of filthy basses, have enjoyed it, try to share what I like.
My way of thinking might be disturbing to "old school thinking" (another of your jokes) 15 years old people, but it is the way it works today.
I didn't mean to offense anybody, didn't insult anybody, I think that if you are offended by me, you should rethink your way of understanding music.

If not shared, music is nothing that frequencies in the air, which disappear a few meters away.

The answer is not facebook.

Check the online shops (or hit a physical one) and hit up gigs.

LOL seriously you're looking at this the wrong way. music and its growth is really organic , you're idea is really restricting if anything. it doesnt democratise music it makes it elitist and egalitarian. If your aim is to democratise music through the use of the internet then youtube did it . As soon as you bring in the idea of 'subjective quality control' then thats when it become undemocratic. Appreciated by the majority? But you would essentially be controlling which tunes get shown to the majority, and i bet me and you dont like the same tunes so you've already isolated me and that hurts man...

I like the idea in theory. However, democratic thinking may not be your best option.

I am of the opinion that the majority of dubstep listeners today have only come to the genre in the past year or so, and are mostly ignorant of the culture and sound that dubstep emerged from in the first place. Without that knowledge all people go for is filth, which in my mind is essentially the new heavy metal or punk (which is why you see mosh pitting at dubstep raves now) and is so far away from the original spirit of things that it is upsetting.

Not to say there isn't amazing new dubs released all the time, but you have to dig for it, and I wouldn't want those amazing dubs to be cluttered up by trash. Catch my drift?

as much as I dislike having to shuffle through crap to find decent songs, the positive of finding that bangin songs out weighs it.
And then you have the suspense of waiting several days to get it in the mail. and then :h: :h: :h:
much more exciting than "oh facebook, cool song".. *google.. "mediafire"*.. "got it" :D :) :? ..next song
just my opinion
