I dedicate this, my first recorded mix, to my dearest grandmother. When I put it on in the car, she could not for the life of her comprehend that it was actually music.

She was all like "what's that noise" I told her what it was, then she looking down the side of her seat saying "no it's not music, it's some kind of gadget or something".

She's boss. anyway it runs a little something this-

Moving ninja- Uranium
Blackdown- Crackle Blues (Burial Remix)
Kode 9- Sine of the Dub
Mala- Bury the Boy
Burial- Southern Comfort
Kode 9- Curious
Mala- Changes
Pinch- Qawwali
Pinch & P Dutty- Alien Tongue
Massive Music- Find My Way (Kode 9 Remix)
Mala- Forgive
Jamie Woon- Wayfaring Stranger (Burial Remix)

Thanks to anyone who listens. Please let me know what ya think.

on the d/l ----> i could not resist this one. mostly because of the fact that it's a dedication to your granny.

+ the tracklist rocks!

++ i remember my grandma complaining about today's music when she caught me listening to paradox's esoteric funk. she was like "wtf? i could make the same noise in the kitchen by beating plates and cans"

My Mum had a copy of Atechre - Confield in her car for a while, something that even I struggle to listen too sometimes.

Ha ha. My mum prefers the later stuff. She particularly enjoys Draft 7.30 for when she's doing the ironing.

and oyaarss, I would love to see your mother's 'kitchen utensil' rendition of esoteric funk. I reckon we should all chip in for her performance fees and the subsequent dvd pressing.

Cheers man. I listened back to it before and its not as good as I thought it was last night.

I reckon there's some good ideas on it but the EQ-ing lets me down abit in places. There's some non-too-subtle bass cuts which leave the mix sounding a little empty and there's a needle jump in Sine of the Dub which I'm not happy about at all. It's also a bit too full around the high end when I bring the crackly Burial tunes in, but never mind.

Nice one for listening though man. It's appreciated.

Had to do some searches to find this topic again, way to hide an incredible mix from the public!

Dark, original/originator sounds. Not necessarily beats all the time. Those breaks add to the weight and make the mix stand out. I'm going to link this all over.

Biggin' up an underrated mix.

Thinking about starting a thread in which people upload a clip of themselves bellowing Wayfaring Stranger as loud as they can, while trying to duplicate those Jamie Woon bends.

Nice mix, mate, love the ambient shit.
and big up for the dedication!
I spent christmas with my grandparents and I was chillin the kitchen playin' some cards with my brovah. My grandparents are in the living room just sittin there like old people do. They got this new satalite radio shit, like a billion channels, so they are scrolling through the channels and boom, some serious serious DUB comes on, you know like the Gussie P shit..deep deep bass.
The kept it locked on there for like 20 mins, just nodding their heads.
My brother and I were on the fuckin floor laughin'. Guess I should have been sending them Dub records instead of Big band music for pressies.
If only my parents were that frrreeshhh.
