I'm planning to attend South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas in March this year. I'm wondering if someone from the US knows if dubstep will be represented in the lineup this year. I know Plastician played there last year so...

Of course it will be.

Question is what will the quality of the representation be like?

One of the lineups I saw looks great(not good, great). It's scary to think how bonkers Austin will be during sxsw, it's always crazier than it was the year before and last year this town practically came to a stand-still...

It's my first time this year, mostly because I'm performing with my band. Can you describe how does it work there? Where do they put the electronic music, in bars? Does it last all night?

I only went to one night of dubstep last year as there is much better things musically going on. Barcelona (the bar) was where most of the good stuff was going on for edm last year.

You can buy an all access pass for a set price or you can pay for individual events. If you're a performer you should look into getting an all access pass. My old band played a few years back and we all got passes.

Then just take your passes wherever you go. If you can afford to show up the week before the music showcase begins. The film showcase is stellar. Got to see kickass last year months before it was in theatres :p

When the final lineups go out they'll have a list of bars and what they have going on each day. We usually just circle the shit we want to hit and roam around from place to place.

If you'll be there for the interactive/film showcases I can sort you with access to the G4/EA events.

Did you see Serbian Film there maybe? I know it had world premiere on SXSW last year. Dunno about the film showcases yet, but I'll keep that in mind.

Yeah, I saw James Blake listed at one point, but he's not listed anymore... not sure if he's coming or what.

And, yeah, generally Barcelona is the spot for the bass weight... no question.

If you actually take the time to search websites you will see that dubstep shows are all over the place. Granted they are not every weekend but plenty are out there. Ive been to 6 in the past month and continue to go.

Now, Who is going to Bonaroo to see basshead? Im going with my friends to dance my face off and for Meditative reasons as well.
