... No you don't. Take your time and figure it out at your own pace. The world has plenty of girls for you to get when you become Skrillex.
I don't know how us on these forums are going to know what you need to learn and what you don't need to learn. Have you used a DAW before? If not maybe look up a beginning in Logic video. If you know how to record tracks and use AU's then start laying down some stuff and see if it matches.

i've been using Reason for quite a while now, so that's not really the issue. It's just that i need the basic tips on which synths you recommend, some things i need to know you see, things i will learn later and i'll say "had i known that i'd be excision already"

Just scan google,it's not hard to find what everyone's using, watch as many computer music's masterclass vid's as you can find they are a wealth of knowledge on what synth's etc...are used, also practice makes perfect, make the time to experiment.logic is awesome when you learn how easy it is to use.

Ahh I see. I that case I'd recommend getting to know the synths inside Logic, they are really decent. I love Sculpture and ESX24 is a really decent sampler. Ultra beat has a decent sequencer, just try them out and see what works for you. I made the classic mistake of buying both Logic and Komplete. I'm happy I have Komplete but I can guarantee you that the built in Logic synths can do anything Komplete can... Almost anyways.

Well in that case, learn ES2 inside out, sculpture is very complicated (but very powerful too, bit of a tradeoff). ESX24 is a very capable sampler and EFM1 is a simple FM synth.
Those are the 4 synths I use regular use and I highly recommend.

i've heard this from a couple people on dnbforums about this book and its great.
http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... CFgQ8wIwAA#
i've been reading this book and theirs 2 parts one is the very beginners part and the second one is about the plugins in it. They're both top notch books i recommend them. It will make you understand logic a lot better and they give you a cd with lessons on them to get a hand on experience in learning. other than that follow the advice the other people on this post have givin to you

I just started on logic too, brilliant program but way different than ableton.
I know you're probably stoked on making dubstep but if you wanna be an amazing producer you should maybe start with some DnB; these videos are great to get you started on the basics of logic

Also when you get a little more advanced check out the Reso Computer Music video. He has a bunch of cool tricks and tips to making a pro drumstep song.

i've switched from reason as well to logic its a pretty hard transformation since theirs a lot more things you can choose from but use the logicprohelp website and watch tuts on youtube and if you could buy the book i really recommend it. It will make the transition much smoother

When I was in school for audio engineering they gave us the introduction to Logic Pro book which is really helpful, and I bought the 2nd one when I finished the first. Those books help so much, it doesn't tell you how to make sounds, rather it tells you what things do and why an so forth.
Those books can be found here:
