Gash - Rokujuyon Dub (Chiptune/Dub)

Just got a new chiptune synth so to learn it better I thought id make a tune with it. Thinking about putting it out as a 7" with a vocal on it but we will see...
Turned out ok but does sound waaaay too much like Quarta 330. Also just heard the new Soom T and Distrupt album which is definitely an influence.

Not a bad tune man! A couple of things I wish I heard: I know this style is usually sort of minimal, but I would've loved to hear another layer or two throughout the song, especially on the intro drums. Just the snare and kick left it feeling a little bit empty. I would add some hats, or something else just to give it another dimension. Another thing is, on your bass programming, a majority of the notes either hit a fraction of a beat before or after the actual kick beat. This may have been intentional, but it sort of makes the whole track sound like a mess when it's pretty much centered around that one tone. Other than those things, I enjoyed it man!

I did toy with the idea of having hats in the intro but wanted to leave it minimal as it is 8-Bit...and it does have hats (or the equivalent) throughout the rest of the song. Not sure what you mean about the bass, it drops in level a bit as its sidechained with the kick (maybe i compressed it too much...) but apart from that it hits with the bass every time, at least on the first beat of the bar...
glad you liked it though...i probably could work on it some more, did make it pretty quickly (as it was mainly an excuse to learn a new chiptune synth i got)
