Dubstep dropped 4 semitones

Post by junglebunny » Thu Jan 27, 2011 8:35 am

Has anyone ever tried this or thought of this before? It makes some tunes sound absolutely evil.

I like to get baked and slow down jungle tunes. Put Bug Kann The Plastic Jam Slow Down 94 remix on and slow it down, sounds sick.

you can easily do this with FL studio and you can even do it without a DAW program. all you have to do is change your sound settings, and there should be an option to "pitch shift" and you can choose anywhere from +4 to -4 semitones. i don't know if it's available on windows 7 computers as i have vista :?

only problem with dropping semitones is...what club do you plan on playing it out oo? 75% of clubs can't handle low end sub properly. you run the danger of it sounding like farty bass when amplified, unless you're at fabric or something.

Try playing Jakes - Rock Tha Bells, pitched to the maximum speed (also setting it to 45 rpm's perhaps). It sounds like some very good gabba.

it's not meant for club use, just something to fuck around with at home. a friend of mine has mastered this technique we call "pro dropping". basically you take the song and you master the fuck out of it so that the bassline stays the same frequency but the song itself is dropped (tempo, drums, synths, etc.). not sure if that's the exact way he does it, but it's all in how you master the sounds so you can still hear and feel the bass while the song is slowed down.
