Hello. I am fairly new to dubstep production and I need help. In lots of heavy dubstep tracks I hear, the bassline has been modulated in so many ways and not just the LFO rate.

Here are some Examples Of What I mean:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJzfTZlEl40 (Forward to 0:40)

I mainly use NI Massive for my basses. And I am not sure what paremeters I should automate to get these effects, escpecialy in Rusko's - bionic commando. So what interesting things do you automate with your basslines? :)

Thanks

I believe what you looking for is called automation. Pretty much changing the speed and pattern of the bassline.

Since your using massive the most simple way to get an automated sound is instead of using the LFO set it to performer. To do that drag the LFO you want to use to the box of whatever your using it on like you usually do. Lets say you used LFO 5. Click LFO 5 on the bottom and in the LFO window theres a drop down box that is default set to LFO, change it to performer. Here you can change the sound to different patterns. Click load curve to see all the ways you can shape it. Fuck with it for a while and youll get it. Heres a screen shot.

Good luck!
