Muffler style bass

Hi, I've been lurking a while, this is my first post. Love browsing this forum. I ran a search on this topic but couldn't find anything.

I'm not really in to this song, but I really like the chugging synth sound that you hear at the drop about a minute in. I can't fathom how you get a sound like this from a traditional sine/saw synth. It sounds like some filter tricks are being used, but I have no idea how to get the baseline sound. Any ideas would be really appreciated.
