HAWRI - TAKE YOUR MIND (Feat. MANDY) Melodic Dubstep

Post by Hawri - MassivART » Tue Feb 01, 2011 8:17 pm

Hey guys,

I've been making dubstep tracks for about less than a year now. Besides that, I write west-coast glitch-hop tracks laced with melodies, and film-scores etc.
This is the first time I'm posting one my original compositions on dubstepforum.com :)(Look below for links). Better late than never I guess.
I've tried to incorporate vocal melodies in this song (I'm a huge patron of melodic dubstep btw) and was able to achieve that, with an amazing contribution from a fabolous singer!

Your feedback/ blessings are sincerely appreciated, not only since this is my official launch but also because most of us are underground musicians and we could definitely use each other's support and feedback, links etc. :)

Please leave your comments (either on soundcloud, or on here)/ links. This track is being release as part of an EP titled "YUGA ONE" which features 4 unique tracks by Hawri (me) and Mandy (singer on this track) available for both FREE DOWNLOAD & to "BUY ON iTUNES" in case there are generous people out there

The intro is epic, and I can clearly hear your film background in how wide it is, way better than what I'm up to atm. I can see what your trying to do in the drop, but its almost too clean for the dirty distortedness that a filth drop is supposed to be. Also the hard panning in the bassline is a no-no, there are lots of clubs out there that that only play the left channel instead of mixing to mono.

BTW the production values are awesome and I guess I'm only saying this because its obvious that your a very good producer. Just my 2pence (I'm British)

Thanks for the positive vibes mate! Yeah, the panning was a result of funky spreading, if u will...

some nice ideas in here, although the track does sound quiet genric or i guess commercial. It sounds like it has been really limited or is it just a low bit rate mp3? though it does sound more like its been limited as it comes across quiet thin sounding. the vocals are ok, but sound like they have been compressed loads. all the panning is great for headphones, but i really couldn't see it coming across well on a regular sound system in a club.

not bad, not my personal cup of tea. would like to compare this to just a finished mix down without the limiting as a lot of the dynamics in it appear to have been lost.

keep em coming. :)
