It can, if Soundcloud code their flash player differently.

(Everyone uses third party apps on their browser which the sites can block)

Dang. I'd kinda like to know how it's done so I can bitch to soundcloud about it. I pay for it for fucks sake, that's unacceptable. Not even sure it should have been brought up here either. Probably some punks trying to work it out after reading this but I'm glad I know.

It would be difficult to trace people doing it due to the file is downloading from the same source it streams from.
They have to improve their own streaming code.
Costing many people alot of money collectively.

If it is indeed downloading the original, non-transcoded version, then that is ridiculous and should not be able to happen.

Doesn't surprise me though, it's not even the dumbest security fail of the year.

Can I just say.....Unless you know your way around sourcecode I very much doubt you'll be able to work this out very easily.. Its not THAT bad security but its possible...Just like it used to be possible to download off youtube with notepad and knowing what code to edit..

I am not sure. I don't have any downloadable on teh Savory account. Or at least it's not set to download

Yeah but there are a huge number of programs you can get that does all the work for you now.
The kids can do it too.

Eh, it doesn't matter how hard it is, somebody will release a tool to make it easy for the masses.

And it's not like it's difficult to secure this, so I'm still calling it a Soundcloud fail. (Again assuming it's true, and it's not the transcoded version)
