The Reason I Really Do Believe Brostep Is Getting More Shine

Post by slanguage » Wed Feb 09, 2011 7:54 pm

Over Deeper Stuff commerically is because.....

it costs more to listen deep stuff properly...there's really no point listening to deep stuff on a laptop cos you can't hear any of the sub bass (its literally like hearing a different song on the most part without the sub bass)...hence why when you try showing someone they think its all boring...the thing with brostep and all that tearout stuff (which i do like some of it) is that its accessible, you can basically hear everything it has to offer on a laptop, pc or whatever without having to shell out £300+ to get yourself a decent soundsystem...and the general listener won't be bothered enough to do that...i mean, even your local club would have to upgrade alot of their sound equipment if they wanted to play the deep stuff without it sounding like sh1t...

but with saying all of this what i have seen alot recently is those who've sworn down on brostep and all that, once they've discovered the deeper stuff they've tended to turn their back on it...do you agree, or am i way off in my thinking?

speakers that are good enough to at least hear sub bass can be bought for cheaper than 300 pounds imho. even headphones for that matter. you don't have to go from one extreme (laptop speakers) to another (soundsystem) to enjoy dubstep imo

if you are someone who likes music, it shouldn't be hard to buy a pair of speakers at a reasonable price according to your budget and passion

i think the sound you are referring to is popular because people want to go wild and party to something that makes them want to _____ their ______ while ____ing ______ with a ______.

guess i'm completely off...but to the bolded...i wouldn't say that, cos i myself and i've seen people go mad to tracks that cover the whole spectrum of the scene...and yeah you can hear the sub bass with cheaper stuff, but is it good quality?

people can go wild for whatever sound they want, i'm just saying that the people who are into that sound might genuinely enjoy it is all...

as for cheap but good quality, I think it's pretty easy to find something in the middle that works well. i use rockits fwiw and they were pretty cheap due to a sale

if people don't hear the stuff in clubs, they will mostly never know about it.

dj's need to start educating more, instead of playing 1 hour of hype drops.

thanks to youtube, facebook group, and the like, the name dubstep has a completely distorted definition in the eyes of the masses. what can you do

Yep, I hate these threads because I always end up coming across really negative. But to be honest there is so much shit coming out these days dubstep doesn't mean shit anymore. Whenever people asked me what music I listening to I didn't mind saying dubstep but everytime I say it I always get the response of "oh have you heard this new *generic filth wobble bullshit" song, here I'll play it for you on my phone its on youtube its sick"
I just think it's getting a joke. There's some really talented producers that never get recognition they deserve because of all the shit thats getting released and getting so much attention from the bro's.
Everytime I go out to a dubstep night and an old dubstep song comes on that's not some filthy-triple-drop-backflip-no scope shit everyone just leaves the dancefloor.
It's a shame, but I suppose its good that the scene is moving forward and there actually is some producers bringing some great tracks into the mainstream.

I can understand that people might find it boring listening to more minimal/bass heavy stuff on a laptop, seeing as when i have attempted to listen to it on them devices it is pretty shit but you don't need to buy a rig or anything to enjoy bass.

These are my computer speakers (http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/439/250?WT.z_sp=Image) that i have been using to listen to bass music for the last 2-3 years and they are completely fine. The louder/lower bass a system has the better (obviously) but its not mandatory to have a 10,000 watt rig in your room to enjoy it!

This is the only reason why Brostep is ridiculously popular now. Saying that it is because of the soundsystem requirements is just a cop out.

I think we need to make more happy smiley threads rather than constant talk of Brostep.

For example the FaltyDL thread makes me :corndance:

I haven't got the same opinion as Fractal. Personally if I was only listening stuffs like Loefah etc through my headphones (which are already quite good) I would already be like "yeah man this is cool". But to me, hearing Mud dropping on a powerful system at a party was like a revelation. Now listening to this only gives me a small clue about how big the tunes sound on a blazing system... The thing is that most people saying the "deeper" side of the sound is weak say that because they've never experienced it on a proper system. So yeah in a way I agree with OP, in a way brostep is "cheaper" because you get the essential of the music through pretty much anything. You need 20 000W to get what sub-bass is truly about.

Hearing music out is the key. First time I went to a night (subdub) I was blown away by the bass. Can't be compared.

I agree that it is partly because of the way you can listen to brostep on crapper speakers that helps it. Maybe you were all different but its only in the past year or so I have really come to appreciate good sounding speakers. I didn't really understand before. I think this is why its all the teens who are pushing brostep because for the most part they...1) dont really see differences in sound quality. 2) they cannot get into nights to hear things on a loud system 3) Very few teens can afford a great sounding system anyway 4) tearout stuff just appeals to younger people more anyway.

If anything I think there is more to be positive about now. Brostep and commercial dubstep has happened but there is still plenty of great nights for deeper heads probably more than ever before. Also with all the 'post dubstep' stuff we are seeing that dubstep can evolve into other areas not just brostep and whereas not everyone is going to be happy with all the directions dubstep is going but they are definitely going to be happy with some of it

Deep stuff is meant to be felt not just heard. Yes you'll get that with most music on a quality rig but I really think deeper vibed tracks are built for heavy low end rigs and take full advantage of the bass weight properties available. More so than most genres. As there is more space left in deep tracks the low end is even more apparent but missing the point on a inferior system.

I like some brostep stuff but it tires on me so quickly. 30 mins into a hyped set and my ears have already started to go dull infact most times its straight out with the ear plugs.

Anyway its Youngsta and Pangaea tonight at Dub Nation!!!! A turbosound rig according to their website so I will be wallowing in waves of deep sub.

Look, it's not hard to understand. The reason why I got into gangstastep and metalbass is because I loved the crazy sci-fi samples and mental drops. More people can dig that stuff than a really deep bassline and space between the beats. Not saying one is better than the other, but one sure as hell stands out more than the other.
