I've been listening to Dubstep for quite a while now. I just recently got enough money to get the whole set-up to start playing live shows, etc. I'm curious on what would be the best variety program to buy. If you guys could point me in the right direction on what I should get that'd be sick. Thanks Guys.

you want the set up for live shows? in what way? if you want to dj, buy some decks. no program for that.

ableton is sort of live, and i guess for that, you just need a laptop, ableton and a controller.

you need atleast a $2000 mac laptop and you also need to buy one of those huge expensive keyboards then you can start making music close to what rusko has going on, maybe. In all seriousness tho yeah you need atleast like $3000 to make dubstep

uh yeah well first you need a band dude! like one guy plays drums, one sings (thats where the talking wobbles like YOY n shit are from, you put a bitcrusher on a mic and the singer does the wobbles) then one guy plays bass (just filter that with an lfo to get wubs) and then another one plays keyboard for all those trance melodies.

so yeah thats a drumset, a mic and a bitcrusher, a bass, an lfo and a keyboard. and 3 other guys to play in your band. fuck laptops, people who make dubstep on a computer aren't real musicians.
oh and you don't need experience or so, just have a few rehearsals and do your first gig! it's like the new punk (skrillex said it so its true)!

just get reason. cheap and can do a lot.

live? get into djing, read about dubplates and the whole dubstep movement.

dont want to dj? watch some ableton live tutorials, but tbh it doesnt replace a skillful dj.

there are still other ways to go live with softsynths (eg reaktor) but those are the two easiest and most logical tools id namedrop for a beginner.. and they prolly the best anyways... (im lookin for trouble)

He's not fuckin around. I dropped about $7 000 before I could even make a wobble.

I don't think his question is that weird... He needs software to aid live production of electronic music.
