Need help to getting some vst patches to work

Right first of all, sorry about the lack of info in the title, but recently I bought Liquid D&B Essentials from primeloops.com and I got the FL Studio version. But I can't figure out what to use the VST patches included with.. on the site it don't say what the patches are for :@ If anyone can give me a heads up or some sort of tips I would really appreciate it. While your at it, care to explain some stuff about VST's themselves? As far as I know, it's a way of loading a software synth or something...
