For those of you new to Pale Sketcher, it's another project by Justin K. Broadrick, former and/or current member of such influential bands as Godflesh, Jesu, Greymachine and many many more. Also features on the "Infected" EP by The Bug and worked with Kevin Martin in such projects like Techno Animal. I think there's quite a few people on this board that will like this stuff, at least this new EP. Here's a little review I wrote for another forum.
Seventh Heaven :
Good track, nothing special but solid. I love the little two-step rhythm he's got in there. And the chopped vocals remind me of garage even, or UK Funky. It's trendy and I like it.
The Rainy Season
Wow, this reminded me of early chopped up dubstep for example on the panet mu label (vaccine, boxcutter etc. come to mind) Deffo also a nice jungle vibe with the amens. Love the vocal popping up under the beat. Good melody. Another hit for me.
Wash It All Away [KMS remix]
Doesn't come close to the original, the Pale Sketcher remix was ok. This one is my least favourite version. I Like what Kevin martin has done to the track, but the vocal contributions by Hitomi and Robinson are a bit off-putting on this particular track. Wish it was an instrumental.
Resonanz Therapy Musik
Probably the most 'traditional' Pale Sketcher track for me. Some nice muffled beats and futuristic synths. Reminded me of Actress in a way. Good but could have done with the ambience a little to the back and the beats a little bit more up front in the mix.
Drag Your Feet
Agree this has a bit of Dälek vibe. It's also a bit more reminiscent of electronic Jesu. A melancholic vibe, but the tune could have done with a vocal lifting it up. Dreamy.
Recommended to anyone willing to broaden their horizons... not stricktly dubstep, but track one is 135 bpm's, track 2 = 140 bpm's, track 3 = King Midas Sound, so I guess it's ok to be posting this here.
