The scene where he's nearly executed by the Geordie singing Blaydon Races is one continuous shot - right the way until she walks out of that hospital holding the baby. As is the scene where that lass is shit in the throat - that made me laugh when I saw it, so predictable :D

I enjoy the film despite the enormous plot holes in it (the book isn't as good as the film; she is a god awful writer - does the kinds of books you can buy on Easyjet long haul flights). I especially love the nod to Pink Floyd in the film :)

edit: actually am being a little unfair on the book, the concept is excellent, Isle of Man is a giant prison etc. It just doesn't really work and the film picks up the cool parts that do and ignores the parts that don't - hence the plot holes.

Because not all of us are thick as pig shit and have an attention span longer than that of a child.

Kode 9 is played in one of the pubs as well, either 9 Samurai or Backwards, can't remember which.

I just love the settings and the atmosphere more than anything. The goings on and chaos in the background.

great film

here's a really interesting review of some of the more advanced technical scenes, don't entirely agree but he makes some good points

watched it again last night

i do like the film, find myself in two minds when watching, really loving the concept and some of the emotions it manages to conjure up in me are pretty impressive; other parts leave me cringing slightly, the acting isn't all that, some of the one-liners and the relationship between Theo and Gillian/Julie-ann(?)

overall i enjoy it though, minor gripes dont spoil what is an otherwise decent film

It was Backwards. You can also hear Pinch - War Dub and Cyrus - Indian Stomp when Owen first enters the refugee camp.

The dystopian vision is what impressed me most.
