Crowd Behaviour
Crowd Behaviour
Was at fabric last night for the dub police takeover and room 1 was embarrassing for dubstep lovers. Dub police were good obviously and youngsta smashed it but I found myself fucking off to room 2 to get away from the idiots in the crowd.
It was over packed and the crowd was full of the biggest douchebags ever, people who mosh to dubstep and get well aggy need to chill the fuck out seriously.
Been noticing this more and more at nights, gone are the days of having a 2ft square of space to skank in and have a good time. Now it just turns into a fucking sweaty mosh with everyone throwing elbows and glasses at each other. Was at a dub police takeover last June and it was fucking way better then, half as many dick splash moshers and aggressors.
Anyone noticed this? Was it more chilled at DMZ last night in Leeds? Is it purely because of the more jump up stuff dub police play?

Re: Crowd Behaviour
I've been noticing it, some guy the other night was talking to me about how someone got pissed off with him because he was being mental and jumping around too much, and he said if people can't step to the level that he is on, then they should fuck off. Its like there is a competition to be the guy that does the most drugs and parties the hardest, and you have to earn your place at the front of nights by acting like a twat. Ruins it for the people who enjoy being at the front because they want to see the DJ in action, I couldn't imagine how bloody annoying it must have been to be at a Youngsta night and not to be near the front, watching one of the greatest mixers of our time in action.
Been finding myself just standing at the back lately, not out of choice, but just to avoid assholes who make nights a bit shitty.
Easier to chat to people at the back of nights anyway though, and the Guy to Girl Ratio is usually a bit more even.

you know what, last night room 2 was actually better. the dnb ravers were more relaxed, everyone had there own space to skank out and it was a party.TSH-Tim wrote:I've seen this more & more & more... its NOT good people and before you know it your have 1000 MC's added in as well & it will be like a jump up d&b rave !!

Re: Crowd Behaviour
it was a mixture, but there was a lot of jump up stuff and then towards the end a bit more jungle.

Re: Crowd Behaviour
I could not agree more with this thread.
First time i ever came across a mosh pit at a dubstep rave was in the summer at Leeds festival. A mosh pit just appeared when Magnetic Man dropped 'I Need Air'. Now 1) How is that a moshing tune? HOW!?! 2) Dubstep and moshing (together) is just not natural. 140bpm is not a tempo to start charging at other people rapidly. A slower mosh pit would look embarrassing but probably pretty funny.
I had an argument with Jakwob over his facebook page about a month ago after he posted something about how he loved a mosh pit at one of his gigs and that every gig should be like that. Some of the crap that was coming out of his mouth was... Saying that people have the right to get aggy and throw em selves about. Fair to say I had a lot of backing off other facebook users about how mosh pits don't belong in dubstep..
I went to see DatsiK on Tuesday in Leeds and he actually has a following of nobheads. I mean i was expecting a few idiots being bro-step but how those spuds behaved at the front was ridiculous. Firstly there were geeks clinging on to the dj booth wanting to be at the front. Some guy nearly cried when we tried to move him...
I mean look at that guy at the front (the guy with the glasses). He genuinely said something on the lines of.. "Please ive been here since the start just for DatsiK"

The same spud started fiddling with Mele's Macbook to try and stop his tunes (so he'd start em again) and nearly got kicked out for it..
I spent most of that night at the back where there was space to skank but I couldn't even do that. Just felt like noise. Deffo the worst night out ive had in such a long while.
Would like to hope the DMZ night in Leeds was much more chilled and people were just skanking away like the norm. Heading to the Bash in Brixton and seriously cannot be arsed with people flinging em selves about on that night. Its guaranteed to be rammed which could also be a bad thing. The guy who commented about having a 'square of space' to skank has got it spot on!

Re: Crowd Behaviour
I agree with this thread also. Trying to mosh to Dubstep is a complete and utter failure, starting fights (no matter how funny) is also not appreciated. I also agree with the guy saying about having your own skank space - that's exactly what I like.. Maybe a bit of space for myself and my mates to enjoy the music and not be bothered by anyone.
At Magnetic Man when I went to see them, things were actually OK, I was second row behind some girls and things were fine, maybe a bit of the usual pushing shoving every now and then, but I did have my own space. At a festival where I saw Caspa however, the crowd was full of younger ravers (not hating on all the youngsters btw!) attempting to mosh and start fights - I did try and stay away from these but at one point this kid got hit and me and my mate had to rugby tackle him out of the mosh pit for his own safety (we're nice like that)
Not about the pathetic attitudes of some people at all!

I went to see Datsik (I know, right) on Wednesday. The first 3 DJs were playing all sorts of dubstep, 2004's Toasty - The Knowledge to Emalkay - Powertool, even some James Blake CMYK with DMZ. It was great as the venue was compact but there was space. When Datsik came on (his set was awful by the way, the system was great though) all sorts kicked off. Grown men fighting, even pulling each others hair. It was pathetic.
