Hello.

Does anyone here uses any mastering houses / pressing plants to press their records ? Any recomendations ?

I was wondering what price to bear in mind for 2 track (4 tracks) 12" EP , 300 - 500 copies. There's probably not big difference between pressing a white labels / colour labels ? No printed jackets, just simple disco bags.

Thanks.

Did some work once with a guy who ran a record label called 10bag recordings ( or something close to that ) he use to get vinyl pressed and am sure i've seen that user name on here, might be worth checking out :)

Generally speaking most pressing plants are similar. When we press vinyl we're looking for effectiveness, quality, turnover time and communication. What's the point in paying £40 less for a cheaper deal when you're going to spend 1 month nagging them for the tp's?

We use Curved Pressings. I cannot rate them enough! 2 weeks to get the tp's. 2 weeks to get the full order. Check them out.

I would say liquid mastering in NW London- they have very affordable prices. Also there is Fluid in Hammersmith.

I did work at metropolis a few years ago and I would recommend them highly. If you ever get to see the setup they are dealing with, you'd go there without hesitation. However they are the biggest in europe so they do tend to cost more. The main guy there for electronic music is called Stuart. He usually does the mastering for every big name DnB producers and he's done Geeneus and Zinc productions as well.

Google "imastering" or "metropolis mastering".

Can anyone shed some light on the below;

I was wondering is there anything against me buying the WAV version of this album and getting Anti War Dub and Mud VIP pressed? Or would this be frowned up on? I mean people can buy the mp3's and put them on CD to play out so surely I should be able to press them to vinyl and play them out.

I cant see anything wrong with that but you may find others look down on you for doing so.... The press company might also have something to say about it otherwise everybody would be doing it and selling the records.

You wouldn't be able to press a lot of copies because you don't have the mechanical license. 1 copy might count as fair usage.
