So after some delays due to various reasons in customs lately my records arrived the other day. I haven't posted a mix for a while so I thought I would drop this one up.

Re: The Mail Came Late Mix (All Vinyl)
that's a pretty big mix! i don't think i heard "voyeur" in there though, i think you played the von d track on the flip of that 12. i've been really feeling that tunnidge track alot, and the transition into croydon house is spot on.
just a question, how do record your vinyl mixes? cuz the frequency response seems really wide. maybe it's just cuz i don't have an interface so my mixes sound squished?

Re: The Mail Came Late Mix (All Vinyl)
Yikes maybe it is the Von D tune and I wrote down the wrong one! Yeah the Tunnidge flip was really surprising and refreshing. As for recording I did it at my crib just by running an rca to stereo into the input on my macbook pro directly into ableton. I don't put any compression or effects on the channel but I do a level check and keep the channel from peaking during recording. Then I throw the izotope Ozone on the master and slap on an EQ, an exciter, and a limiter. For the EQ I cut the bass around 30-33htz and then put some air in the highs maybe around 1300-1400htz so its not so bassy because I'm recording from vinyl, which tends to be much heavier on the low end. As for the exciter I usually add just a little bit to the frequency areas that I feel aren't coming through the mix, and its just a little bit. Finally I put on the limiter to boost the volume and bring everything together. Thats it.

Ah, I see. So I DEFINITELY gotta step my game up cuz I've just been rendering a flat mix out as a wav. Thanks so much for the info, that'll help my mixes A TON!

Re: The Mail Came Late Mix (All Vinyl)
No prob. I would always as a rule of them do a little bit of mastering to a mix to help it all gell together and even out all the levels. Good luck!
