Is it time to move on from FLStudio?

I've been working with it for years and it just has such a hard time producing loud track without distorting.

I definitely have the skill set to move on to a different program, but I prefer working with piano rolls and I really don't use midi, so what would a good "next step" be?

YOUR DOING IT WRONG!
FL can make just as high quality production as logic, cubase, or any DAW for that matter. just keep trying

I mean sure it can, but i have worked with other programs, and they handle high density songs like this better. Fl can make great house, i agree, but you cannot push the levels at all. Maybe it's the compressor I'm using... are there better compressors for fl? I use Maximizer...

also, the song sounds exactly how I want it to in the headphones. Theoretically, I could rewire through protools, maybe that would help.... (?)

Goodness. Don't waste your time rewiring through ProTools. It seems that your knowledge of compression and it's effective use are whats lacking, something you might want to remedy before you move on from FL.

FL can make any genre you want it to. A bad workman always blames his tools and all that...

Im not suprised you mixes are distorted if you use maximus on everything !!! Id get the compressor thats free with computer music magazine ( martin eastwood) or just the fruity one and re-do one of your mixdowns cus I bet you money drugs and bitches that maximus is your problem.
You arent being held back by fruity loopyz dude I guarantee.

Put a sub (sine wave) under your bass, it seems very weak. Also i would say add a bit of distortion to your other bass to get more bite out of it. Think that'll help it be louder.

Sorry, but op has really hit this one on the head, you can only make house in fl. I think we should assign genres to daws before we go any further. Cubase gets dnb, hahaha fuckers! Ableton gets the new electro and crunk. Fl, as discussed gets house, and ALL associated subgenres. Wtf for logic... we're going to have to open that up for suggestions. PT DEFINITELY gets rock, no if's and's or but's about it.

Reason/Record:

DP:
We really need to get to the bottom of this before any further discussion happens.
