To be honest I would advise real newbies to not watch his masterclass. When I first started producing I saw that video relatively early on and IMO it did more harm than good, a lot of what he says is misleading if you don't know why he's saying it and also a lot of it doesn't apply unless you want to make very, very similar music to him.

That said, his general tips are very good and also his drum layering/EQing and advice about keeping some unfinished drum beats lying around for when inspiration hits are really good advice.

yeah his tips are great. and idk how you can say this video did more harm than good, i find it very helpful. and i didnt find anything misleading, when i didnt understand what he was saying i just did some researching so i understood what he was saying better and it all made perfect sense... of coarse you shouldn't copy and do exactly how he does, but you can apply general principles. and i found it very helpful to see how he actually goes about making a song. it shows beginners an idea of what a good producers workflow is like. also, i was amazed to see the crappy little computer and room he starts his beats in. the room looked horrible for acoustic treatment, etc. just goes to show ya, you dont need a bunch of fancy equipment to pump out some good tunes.

Yeah maybe I didn't word what I was trying to say very well.

Basically I just meant take what he says with a pinch of salt and remember that some things will only apply to his clubland variety of Dubstep.

yeah or "brostep" as they would call it here. but i like all styles of dubstep, so i dont discriminate. but the most valuable lesson i got from the video was just about creating drums and really giving them a shuffle/groove that will make you move :corndance:. that and like i said just basic principles and workflow. but yeah take what he says with a grain of salt. especially depending on the style of dubstep your going for.

yeah i enjoyed it. also, one of the best tips he gives is to make sure you get the old lady out of the house for optimal producing

I've been using albino since 2 was first released but never really went far past the presets. About a week ago i decided to actually look at the flow and all that. I started getting nice sounds pretty quick. It looks overwhelming but its not difficult. And you can layer shit. As for this masterclass, to each his own...

for yall when dont quite get albino... start paying attention, watch some clips on synthesis & it will come along.

once ya understand the way... all synths become simple!

the only thing i learned from this is that rusko seems like a really cool funny guy

that and that you should have fun with your production instead of taking it super seriously

+20 on both accounts.

Also people should defo respect albino more. Way back it was the 'massive' of it's day and in my opinion it delivers a much warmer more 'analogue-y' sound.

The best advice of the entire video is to get your gf outta the house before you begin
