[BK NYC] 3/11 - TWISUP w/ Policy, Badawi, Spinoza, DQ
This Friday, March 11
TWISUP – New Bass Under Brooklyn......
w/ DJs
BADAWI (The Index, The Agriculture)
POLICY (Rush Hour, Car Crash Set)
DJ SPINOZA (The Bunker)
DAVE Q (Dub War, Twisup)
Boomkat on Policy's new Rush Hour release:
"Shocking debut entry from NYC's Policy on Rush Hour's excellent Current Direct series. Apparently signed up on the strength of a demo, part time movie director, Policy has a sharply defined programming style all of his own. This is best heard on 'Specialty Party' where flickers of not-quite garage patterns fall into bewildering, mutant Brokebeat formations, kinda like the runty offspring of Falty DL. With 'Lights Over Fort Lee' he displays an aptitude for sprawling, cinematic arrangements, again with a distinctly unique personality. Rush Hour are touting him as their contender for best newcomer of the year... KILLER."

From Resident Advisor's new Badawi / Raz Mesinai feature:
"I had my mind blown twice at last year's Unsound Poland festival. Most pertinent to this particular article was the performance of Raz Mesinai, whose performance as Badawi made me giddily exclaim to friends that it was "Shackleton 2.0!"

Since 2003, the Bunker has been one of the most consistent and uncompromising places to hear underground dance music in New York City, and DJ Spinoza, aka Bryan Kasenic, has been the captain at the helm of this mighty empire. As DJ Spinoza he has been quietly pushing the envelope of new techno and bass permutations for years. It is an honor to have one of the true pioneers of New York electronic dance music holding down the fort at Twisup for a 2 hour late night set.
Dub War founder Dave Q is responsible for founding the seminal Dub War night, which brought dubstep music to American shores. His sets continue dubstep's evolution into new tempos and textures. He also runs the new Index label with Badawi.
