what is a rar file and how can i get my computer to recognise em or convert em to wav etc/ cheers :D

RAR is a compression format similar to zip

winrar is the most commonly used expander

unzips every type.

7-Zip will properly handle pretty much any compression format you'll run into. And it's free and without bullshit.

.7z is also a pretty good compression format in its own right, btw.

Yeah .7z is a linux/unix format originally I believe

thanks for the effort guys but still dont understand exactly how to use em...lol. like i downloaded some .rar samples, how do I get em to work? do I get one of the programs above or summin? thanks again

I use 7zip. Nice free program to handle most compression formats.

If you still don't understand, a RAR file is basically the same thing as a ZIP file. It's just a different type of compression. You need to uncompress/extract/unzip the file first before you can use what's inside.

ok nice one i will try download that prog. above. its just that my computer does that thing where if you try opening the file it says what program do you wanna open it with and none can open it. but ill try that program and see if it works..
