Hey, ive been trying for sometime now, and havent really seen any good threads about creating awesome lfo ramp wobbles, and this is exactly what i need on my new tune, a sick ass rample down wobble, im using massive. any tips for obtaining a dirty nasty ramp wobble sound? i mainly just come up with sub par shit, doesnt have punch. anyone might have a patch?
something to the likes of this
or this
im not looking for a step by step tutorial on how to create a dirty ramp wobble, just wondering if there are any preferred waveforms in massive, or something of the like.

this probably won't be very helpful, but I've found the ramp shaped filter on massive creates really shitty sounding wobs. sometimes adding distortion from a program like camelphat can help thicken up the sound.

try using LFO waves other than sine

??? Im not using sine, im using the saw (ramp) lfo, a sine wave wouldnt produce a ramp sound last time i checked......

this seems interesting, and i have camel phat, so i will try this out!

sorry man i totally misread your post, i've had the flu for the last week so i'm kind of out of it
but yea adding fx and distortion is what turns a good bass into a FILTHY one

no worries, i think i created quite a nice one with that method. thanks

Yea, basically what these guys said, if you open massive slap on a square wave, a maths II and maybe a screamer you've got a pretty standard starting point, just work the levels so the screamers harmonics don't ruin your shit, I tend not to use massives lfo as somebody else said, I much prefer just slapping on a low pass in the effects channel and automating it myself - and like these guys said, lots of distortion, maybe a bit crusher, ring mod delay can add a nice effect sometimes, and lots of resampling and reworking with new effects and ideas should get you to a nice end result

Insta-cookie.

ok so this might seem like a dumb question but I can't figure out how to get the routing window to set the low pass to happen after the comb, I've got a basic handle on the routing feature but apparently not quite enough. I understand how to change the order of the inserts but not the filters

a 'ramp' wave is what you get when you turn a sawtooth backwards... http://www.abcofelectronics.com/Sawtooth.gif so if set to an lfo it jumps to open, then ramps down to close, and jumps to open again, givng you those triangular brobits cookie monsta/vaski murk.

thanks man. have not tried this yet, but seems promising. are you assigning the lfo to the comb and the lp or just one of them?
It's not as if basses have names but I've heard people using the term 'fast attack bass' to describe this.
Anyway, enjoy.

increase the Voices in the voicing section of the synth too
this adds the to teh 'phatness'

Yeah, change the widening but I wouldn't change the unisono otherwise it'll sound all chorusey.

do this is massive
bassline... lfo on cutoff and what ever else you like to put it on because you are allowed to modulate more than the filter cutoff.
get a performer. put the performer on the LFO rate in which you are modulating everything with. drag it from where you want the quick wobs to be to how slow you want them. change the curve and rate in performer. and have a blast.
go up, down and all around. if you want, pm me and ill send a screen shot

All I have to say, is don't automate the LFO speed, automate the cutoff itself. Gives you much more control over your wobble and you can get those ramp wobbles good. Ive done it before
EDIT: I thought you were talking about a ramp UP wobble...a ramp DOWN wobble just sounds crappy...any time I've heard it its crappy.
