For St. Patty's day this year we are bringing in our good friend :
Selector Moldy
(Heavy Pressure, ‘earwax, Thermal, Counter Intelligence, Embassy, Surefire Sound, Deep Medi Musik)
A native of Portland, ME and seasoned inhabitant of Boston, MA and New York, NY, the “New England sub assassin” and “New York City dubstep pioneer” (thekronicle.com, 3/3/10) is widely known for his mind-bending DJ sets and deep, dark, thoughtful bass music productions. A “veteran of American dubstep” (flavorwire.com, 4/19/10), Moldy has been “leading the charge of US dubstep producers since day one” (dubwarnyc.com, 5/29/10), with releases spanning multiple genres on labels including ‘Earwax, Thermal Recordings, Counter Intelligence, Embassy and Foreign Familiar as well as his own imprint Heavy Pressure Recordings. His productions have garnered airplay from tastemakers including Joe Nice on Gourmet Beats Radio, Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio 1, Bailey on BBC 1Xtra and Incyde on Sub.FM.
Moldy founded Heavy Pressure Recordings in 2006. His latest release on the label, Pegasus, a dubstep/rap hybrid featuring MC Dynamo-P, is praised by Big Up Magazine as “bass music at it’s finest, in all its restrained, bleak glory,” and is available now via all major digital outlets.
“He is in demand around the world,” (renegademag.com, 10/1/09) traveling to perform in cities including London, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Hartford; “but still gives Portland, Maine the privilege of the best in dubstep,” (renegademag.com, 10/1/09) organizing the city’s original dubstep party, Heavy Pressure Night, since 2008.
He has performed alongside bass music innovators including The Bomb Squad, Skream, Plastician, Mala, Loefah, Pinch, Distance, Starkey, N-Type, Breakage, Digital, Dara, Headhunter, DJG, and Joe Nice.
Openning pressure will be provided by the SUBduction crew residents G NOTORIOUS, U.M.I., CODIAC & SPLIFFOLIAN.
This event is 21+ and will be $5. Not bad for a St Patty's night on the town in Boston!
