A very unusual problem in Logic - please help

Post by Alby D » Thu Mar 24, 2011 5:42 am

Easy guys,

Basically I've got this very odd problem in one of my logic sessions: Whatever track I have selected when I press play automatically goes to -26Db. Like I'll have my kick channel selected, press play and the volume will drop from whatever it is to -26Db. Same for EVERY channel!!
I've checked there's no volume automations causing the problem, I've been using Logic for years and never seen anything like it. As you can imagine its a fuckin nightmare and makes a mixdown completley impossible. The problem is only on this one track I'm working on, all my other sessions work perfectly fine.

I'm wondering if there's a setting I've accidently selected? Has anyone encountered this before? Gotta have this track mixed next week so some help would be very appreciated.

Peace and thanks in advance

Very odd. My first guess would be automation but you've ruled that out. Maybe you can try creating a new project and importing your session data into it, see if that helps.

Is it just the channel you have selected?

Try bringing up the mixer view, highlighting say 3 tracks, and hit play. Do they all dip to -26db?

I have to admit, bar automation which you have ruled out (and wouldn't make any sense as automation wouldn't 'travel' depending on the track highlighted) I can't think what would cause this.

Thinking cap on, quizzical look adorned, beard stroking commenced.

Are you using a MIDI controller, and if so have you accidentally set one of the faders/rotaries to control that value?
