HI, I have a JFK speech that i am working with on one of my tracks atm. It sounds good but I wanna seperate his voice more from the rest. Any good tricks on how to make e.g. movie samples or speeches to really stand out and be clear and understandable....

EQ automation is my next weapon i'll try from here...

I made some changes on my eq and it sounds better now....a bit anyway.

But my correlation meter on mi Master is still not very mono compatible. How important is that anyway for a song to be perfectly in phase?

I use quiet a few 4-pole filters on things and that might not be a good thing for the relation of things???

Cheerio

Ive found audacity does a great job at this sort of stuff. Theres a really nice noise removal function. Its freeware and well useful if you havent already got it.

so you are trying to get the vocal to sit in your track? Try using eq (which you said you have had some luck with) to highpass up around 120-180 hz. Add top end a bit if it needs it, do cuts anywhere its it muddy or nasally. and then compress after. Use compression with a relatively slow attack and fast release. Your results may be kind of strange because you have the reverb tails of the hall he was speaking in, but you can go in and manually cut out the reverb tails you dont want in there. :corndance:

gate + compression (nigh on limiting). hi pass the low stuff (100ish). If JFK is still sounding a bit thin then use a (light) chorus effect. If that doesn't work you might want to look at your sound palette and ask what sounds are overwhelming the speech.
