Most neutral studio monitors?

Hi!

I would like to know what you guys think are the most neutral sounding studio monitors (for about 1600$). To be more specific: if your mixdown sounds awsome in those monitors, it will sound awsome in most sound systems... Kinda hehe!
I was talking to this dude, who said he had a pair of Yamahas (can't remember the model ), apparently they were really good at being "super-neutral" lol.

So would be cool if you gave me your opinions on good monitors

if u can make shit sound good on 10s, then itll sound good on anything.

saying that, you cant do a whole mix session on ns10s, itll drive you crazy, they sound like shit and for dubstep specifically, you're gonna need a bigger pair even if its just to check what your sub sounds like. ns10s dont have any bass.

also, ns10s are far from neutral, theres a massive high mid, treble peak thing, but for some reason, they are still the best speakers to reference on.

They are about as close to a "standard" for studio monitors as you can get because people everywhere use the bloody things lol.

Until you hit the £600.00 I have yet to hear a monitor which is close to neutral.
I have always Dynaudio BM6P have got the closest for around that price point.

My problem with this statement is that if it is correct the following is true:

If music sounds good on any speaker, it will sound good on NS10's.

Which by and large suggests it is not quite making sense.

I think it's largely commonly suggested because many people bought them
they became a kind of standard and lots of people had them and knew them, a big part
of monitoring is getting to know their strengths and weaknesses and as has been mentioned the
room they reside within.

I would probably buy the Dynaudio BM5A, however I am not you and taste will come into it to a degree.

I think you should try and research more and narrow it down to 2/3 pairs of monitors and go and hear them,
it will definitely be worth the time you invest as you will be able to take some music you know inside out and listen.
This is the best method of selecting equipment.

Arguably since you are posting on a bass music realted forum it might be that you wish to forego a little accuracy
for an extended LF response.

Yeah guess your right about choosing the ones I like! But infact, I don't care that much, beacuse now I produce my music on crappy hi-fi speakers So would be nice if you could describe which monitors I should look at and why (if you have the time to answer ofc )

I'm looking for monitors with good low end (because i wont spend money on a sub due to the size of my room, about 12.5m2). Also, the mid-range is really important to me, I like to produce mid-range dubstep with lots of crazy wobbles, growls or whatever.

when I was in the market for a pair of monitors, I tried every set that was available

I bought some Event 20/20's and still use them to this day

15 years and counting

no clue what I'd get if these die on me

i use genelec's, amazing monitors! but they are pricey! would love to add the sub option when ive got more cash.

I really like the Focal CMS 50's. Best value at the entry level price range (liked them better than the entry level ADAM's and Dynaudios)

From that list I would choose Adam A8X (or Dynaudio or Genelec, if forced not to choose Adam).
However, for your room, something like A3x or A5X is better IMHO.
At home I have a pair of Event ASP8. However, where I'm living now I use a pair of Adam A3x (15 m2 room).

How come you can't go out to guitar center or whatever and test some? I never tested any and bought mine but I wasn't spending 1,600 bucks.

Because I can't get to any guitar center, too far from here, and btw they doesn't have a lot of monitors to choose from.... But nevermind! I bought a pair of Focal CMS 65, couldn't be happier!!!
