i've heard this type of almost filter opening effect on a few songs now and i have no clue how to try. Yes i can macro the filter in massive and open but its their anyway i can like sync the way its opening or is their an effect like tremolo almost that i should use. Im on logic btw

examples:
Mostly the main wobble is doing the effect getting louder and bigger and almost panning when you listen to it on headphones.

Gate, or tremolo, whichever, at whatever speed you want, the sound is coming from the main filter opening under the gate/trem, the speed of which is also dependent on your preference.

That's just the effect, though.

I'm sure there's more to it, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but that's what's creating the sound you're digging on. It's a cool sound alright.
What programs are you running? I know massive and albino both have onboard synth effects that could do this.

I'm not a massive user, so it's just speculation on my part, but does it not have a gator or a trem effect?

not that i know of. i only see flangers and a reverb and phaser and 3 distortions. i dont know how to gate though on massive with logic or reason and ive been experimenting for a while and got nothing close -.-

I know you can get a free vst like stormgate or summing and see what you get. Wish I could be of more help man.

Logic comes with a decent basic tremolo. It's under modulation, pretty useful, you can change the stereo phase too so it acts like a basic gater.

route the volume to an lfo. voila tremolo

i tried the tremolo and i get similar results but it doesnt sound as clean and it also doesnt sound good when i bring it back up to a normal wobble.

Don't know if you've tried already, but you might be able to get the trem effect with the vibrato under the "OSC" tab in Massive. Also, select mono on the vibrato for a more focused and less chaotic modulation.

To gate soemthing in massive link the performer to the master amp on performers default sequence, or fuck with the sequencing if you want different speeds. Bam. Gater.

In reason use the matrix pattern sequencer hooked up to volume on your synth

In Massive you could just use the step LFO mode to automate the volume - that could create a Gate effect - you could also apply to filter.

i would do it with maelstrom:

it's got some really cool mod shapes to muck about with the one you want is the one that looks like this [-]_ (ish)

hook up the mod cv out to whatever instrument you want to use,

thor, stick it into cv in 1 then on the bus routing select mod cv 1 then an amount then hang on i'll set it up might be easier to do visually

that should give you that dunk dunk dunk sound, if you're using thor and you want to effect multiple filters you can use the bus to route it or just hook up an envelope control filter and stik the strom cv into that, i also lie to split the signal from thor hook up two filters one bandpass one low pass split the mod cv and hook them both up close the low pass filter quite a lot open up the band pass filter, that will give a nice low dunk dunk and a high pitched squeal.

sorry this was meant to be a quick couple of words but hey, hope this helps.
