Hey guys,

Just a heads-up for my first post. There's a new arpeggiator that's been released recently that seems pretty good on first pass - and it's free! Both Mac and PC too.

Howdy GreatExpectations! :t:

Yeah, this thing got briefly mentioned a while back but I have yet to try it (http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=162754) - have you used it? Do you like it? Got anything you'd care to share?

Hey alphacat (sorry, I thought I had searched the forum for this vst!)

Although a beginner producer myself (6 months or so) I have been struggling with Live's included arpeggiator (seems a bit limited to me and just comes across as a black box, but like I say, I am a beginner) and I wanted an arpeggiator that was a bit more visual with plenty of clickable things so I can play around and learn faster :) This guy seems to tick the box.
I have been trying it out over the weekend (with NI's Razor mainly) and I like it (I also like Razor by the way, the fancy 3D waveform display seems very useful when you are trying to learn about synthesis!). It seems like there is plenty under the hood but at the same time for a beginner it's easy enough to get into. I would have preferred if it could be used directly on the channel I am arpeggiating but it's not too difficult to route it in Live.

I might be wrong but for a free arpeggiator it seems pretty bang on! Unfortunately it's the first arpeggiator I've really tried so I can't really offer any real pearls...

At least you searched first. You hear that everybody? Somebody that actually reads the instructions! :mrgreen:

So oddly enough it seems like there are more MIDI arp plugs coming out in the last year or two than the last 10 years put together. O the irony....

Here's another one:
VSTplanet.com wrote:Angular Momentum has released R-Peg, a free arpeggiator plug-in for Windows.

R-Peg is a phrase arpeggiator with groove swing. You can route rpeg to your favorite software or hardware synth and make it groove instantly. Notes are sequenced the way you played it, giving less static results as a normal arpeggiator.

R-Peg features

* Phrase Arp with multiple modes.
* Groove Sequencer.
* Hold.
* Velocity On/Off.
* Mono On/Off.
* Note gate.
* Octave Range.
* 8 Presets.

I cannot seem to get these to work. I have tried many different routings but there must be one thing I'm not doing correctly. I am on Live 8. Any ideas?

I have tried routing things both ways but cannot get the arp going.

Dunno 'bout live, but basically if you insert this in the chain between your MIDI source (like a MIDI track) and the instrument it's playing you should notice it... BTW, the R-PEG plugin is pretty cool. It can be a quick workaround for the lack of universal swing settings in Reaper.

OK, I think I got it sorted. There was one little step that I was missing with ableton. I was trying to google r-peg when I should have been trying kirnu.

I found this vid:

I have to say, I really love the arpeggiator in my MPK49, it works great. These seem pretty cool, def need to get to know them better.

This kirnu thing is pretty great. I've tried a lot of arps. This really is pretty dope. I give thumbs up, check it out.
